Cheapest option for internet use only mobile?

Hi,

I am looking at getting a new mobile which the primary use will be for internet access. I have a work phone for making majority of call/text so will only need it for accessing personal email, google, facebook, etc.

Can anybody give me some advice as to my best option? I would also need a new mobile (looking at the HTC Magic, iPhone, etc). So far the best options seem to be 18 month contracts from Vodaphone. Ideally, I don't want to lock into 24+ months.

Thanks for the help.

Three have a very good offer on the Nokia E71 which includes 200 minutes, unlimited texts, internet and Skype calls for £20 per month. However it would be a good idea to look at others' experience with 3, and find out how good their signal is in the places you usually work/play/live.

I would recommend you get a sim free smartphone and then get a 3 PAYG sim which gives you 150MB of data fro 90 days on a £10 topup. If you find you need more data after you've used up your free allowance, just convert £5 credit and get the Internet MAX add-on which gives you an extra 1GB for 30 days. Can't really beat that for 1GB of data for £5 a month.

If you're not browsing everyday then Virgin is the next best thing for 30p per day access for 25MB.

    Good luck.

25MB doesn't sound like a lot... How likely would you be to exceed that if you were, say, surfing the web for an hour, or using Google Maps?

Very likely if you are using google maps a lot. But do bear in mind it is effectivly around 750mb p/m for £9 p/m. So it depends how much you are doing per day.

Most operators have got monthly unlimited (usually capped at 500mb-1gb) bundles for payg at around £5-£10. Suggest you look around at their sites.
