download tv programs, put them on to a notebook, take that with me,plug into tv and watch?i dont have internet acsess over there.
If that sounds a good idea, what would i need, apart from the obvious notebook,(or i could just take my laptop)

Check if your apartment block has a communal satellite dish - if not suggest they take keen prices and fit one with leads down to contributing apartments.
Or burn your programmes to a DVD in UK ad then with a cable from your laptop to the tv you can watch them on your tv or laptop.
Or find out if a neighbour has a satellite dish with a spare connector & offer a small payment to use his dish - you would have your own connection with all the programmes that your neighbour can get but quite separate.
Or buy a 60cm dish set iton your balcony and a Digibox (from E- Bay?) or take your own box out and back in your hand luggage - you can then get a load of easy to receive programmes but not the BBC/ITVs - which you probably need at least a 1.45m satellite dish to receive - depending on which part of Spain your apartment is in.
If you decide to take your own digibox (or buy a cheap generic receiver out in Spain) you need to reset your digibox when you arrive - let me know and will post the method and codes (frequencies) for you.
    Have a great holiday.

Why don't you align your small dish to West 1 easy to tune in- there you will find a great range of programmes free - get someone out there to show you how to code in a softkey for Intelstat see web site entitled mactrees - sure you can find it.
    Superb films, footie etc

So do I, but you know as well as I do that it's more complicated than simply moving the dish to 1 degree west! We are beginning to stray into areas which are probably not allowed on this forum, unless you have a legitimate subscription for these channels, as they are not free to air. ;)

Which region of Spain are you in?, a general area would be helpful.
