Can you or why can't you buy one drivers mat?

I have a cheap rubber mat (£3-£5) on top of my carpet mat on the drivers side. It means the mat stays as clean as the other 3 and when the rubber mat wears through I bin it. Also when the rubber mat gets dirty I lift it out and empty the dirt/stones/leaves/water onto the road. The man without a signature.0

They smell though
Do you really have to buy mats in pairs? I've only ever seen them in pairs if I think about it, and I would rather not think this much at this time of night...Been a long hard day...

Buy pairs and turn the passenger side one over?
Rubber mats smell awful at first but the smell soon goes, unless it's wintertime with the heating full on.The man without a signature.0 -

I think that MrsE is probably after something a little more up market. I've heard she is partial to shag pile.
On that noteI'm retiring for the night! Over to you MrsE!

Just think its silly we have to spend £40 on 4 mats when I would happily spend £20 on one really good one.
Do manufactors sell just the drivers or are they packs too?
Both cars have the makers mats a present.0 -
poundland sell individual rubber mats. i cant quite remember how much they are though
and tesco do cheap mats, they arent rubber but arent exactly carpet either but i think they are on £4 for a set....work permit granted!0 -

These guys flog single mats: http://www.matscar.co.uk/Because Matscar manufacture car mats in our own premises we can now offer a single car mat service. We have listened to you the customer who told us that you dont always need a full set. So we are currently having our website updated so you can order just a single car mat for the drivers side, passenger side, or rears only. This means when your front mats finally wear out before the others you can simply replace 1 mat at a fraction of the cost.
If you need any friendly advice or need to order anything not on our site please call our sales team on 01623 752200 or 01623 7572000
