Shocker of a Gas Bill
I received my gas bill today - £460 for 5 radiators! I switched on 21 Dec from Scottish Gas to Hydro Electric, did all the things, checked uswitch, checked the rates BG vs Hydro on wattage or whatever they use - realised at the end of March I hadn't received a bill, the guy said there was a problem changing from BG and the switchover date wasn't until the middle of Jan - fine, as we'd just had a £204 bill from BG for 6 weeks! Checked with BG who said switchover date was 21 Dec - so rang Hydro - my God, how I wished I hadn't! Apparently 3 calls were made to them in Dec & Jan requesting different types of packages, hence we've been charged so many different rates of gas, I got a 6 page bill, and whilst I'm not stupid, I could not work out what the hell the guy was telling me how the bill was calculated - I was charged £98 for 21 days of gas! A further complication is that I live in a 30 roomed hospital that I'm coverting back into a home, so this bill covers 5 radiators at the back of the house, kitchen, laundry room & utility room - all of which are well insulated as it was the only part of the house that was heated!
Upshot seems to be that we do have to pay the bill - okay, I can accept that, even though last year the BG bill for the same period was £300. What I can't accept is someone calling and making changes to my account, the dates and times are so weird, 9am, 3.45pm, when I'm at work so would never call, partner wouldn't have a clue even who we get out supplies from so wasn't him, and the call centre guy then had the cheek to start extoling the virtues of Hydro, and how much more expensive the bill would have been if we'd stayed with BG - what's even more gauling is that I used to work as a PA at Hydro!!!!!
I don't suppose there's anything I can do apart from try and change suppliers again, don't put the heating on (thankfully summer's coming!) but I'd be grateful to hear if anyone else has had the same experience - not only of a massive hick once changing, but of strange things happening to their accounts.

An odd ball thought. Many cos have a notice at the start of a phone call that it may be recorded for training purposes. I wonder if those purporting to come from you were recorded. If they were there might be evidence it was not you because of the voice.0
