my sons laptop has been wrote off by the insurance - he had ;

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Fujitsu-Siemens-Amilo-La1703.3132.0.html

which was rubbish....it cost £379.99 (had a code for £150 off at the time but cant remember where from...shouldve been £529.99)

i really dont want to make the same mistake with the new laptop...

the insurance have recommended;

http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/535494/COMPAQ-PRES-CQ71-140EA?cm_sp=FeatureEnd-_-Laptops-_-position1

or we have £449.00 to spend at comet for a new one....

im just wondering if anyone has an opinion - is the above a good one and would you accept or should we look at a different one....

thanks

    They're pretty popular and relatively inexpensive. Their Atom-powered netbooks in particular tend to sell well despite their mediocrity; read some of the reviews and see for yourself. :)

    I agree, Acer are not too bad. I usually recommend Thinkpads to friends but for your budget it's not feasible.

    Asus are a good brand too - I am currently using one as my primary computer, it's in its third year and still going strong.

    Why don't people read threads... It's an insurance claim, the OP has vouchers that can be spent at comet only, so if you're going to help and choose a laptop for the OP, make sure you ONLY look at https://www.comet.co.uk there is no other way around it..
