Orange Probs

Options
Hi guys
I need some help,
I started a contract with orange back in september 2008.
Then back in January 2009 , I made agreement with them to pay £70 a month (cos I had a big bill to pay off at that time)
and then to pay £69 in june , after that was payed I send them a letter to say I wanted my account closed (this is what we agreed back in january 2009)
then they would close my accout. Then today I get a bill for £40.91p , I call orange , and they told me that they haven't got the letter I send them (to cancel my account )
and I have to pay this months bill, and then to pay £49.91 in august.
now I don't know what to do , should I pay this money to them , as they have had enought money out of me all ready :confused::eek:

For how long was your contract with Orange when you signed up in September 2008?

Did you receive written evidence that Orange were allowing you to terminate your contract, as your state was agreed in January 2009?

Did you send the letter to Orange using recorded delivery?

Orange sometimes allow people to reduce their monthly contract spend each month if you have passed a certain point e.g. after 6 months of a 12 month contract.

From your two most recent bills of £40.91 and £49.91, it appears that you are still using the phone. Is this the case? If so, then you should pay the bills.

Have you signed up to check your Orange bills on-line. It may be worthwhile doing this.

If you haven't used any of the services associated with the Orange phone, do you know why all of the bills are for different amounts?

If I were you I would contact Orange by phone and ask who within Orange customer services accessed your account in January and find out what information was left in the notes. You may need to insist that you speak to a manager if you don't get very far. When you do speak to the manager, ask for all of their details, name, department, contact details, and ask that your call with them is recorded. Confirm that they are willing to close down your account if you pay £X. Then follow up your call with a letter to Orange, sent recorded delivery, explaining what was agreed during the call.

How are you paying your bills? Are they linked to a credit card or via direct debit. If direct debit, it will be easier for you to cancel it. If you have linked it to your credit card, try in future not to do this with any organisation as it is harder for you to cancel it due to what is known as 'continuous payment authority'. See:
