Ebay alternative to paypal dispute - rubbish!

Purchased some items on ebay on 28th June, paid via paypal. Contacted the seller on 10th July to query if items had been dispatched as nothing received, advised by seller it can take 15 days for delivery and she could not start a claim until then. I had no problem waiting so left it until 14th and messaged back to say nothing arrived - no reply from seller, messaged again on 16th - no reply from seller. Messaged again yesterday and said if no reply by today I would need to open dispute as item needed for holiday next week and I would need to buy alternatives - no reply from seller.

Went to open paypal dispute but got the 'contact ebay to resolve the problem' option so decided to call them - what a waste of time! They went through the usual allowing time for dleivery etc then said as this is one of their 'good sellers' I should give them ANOTHER 10 days then contact ebay back if nothing arrived!! I tried to explain to the ebay person that ebay says items should be shipped within 7 days of payment and I had already allowed nearly a month and why should I give another 10 days when seller had already had nearly 4 weeks and had also ignored past three messages? This would also mean item bought in June would have until August to be delivered and would arrive after my holiday I needed it for!! I told the ebay lady to forget it and that I would start a paypal dispute - just thought I would give a heads up to those using the ebay dispute process that no matter how long you give the seller you need to allow another 10 days before you contact ebay back - can understand this if item was only bought a few days previously but after allowing 4 weeks already another 10 days is ridiculous.

Moan over :)

You can only open a paypal dispute up to 45 days so it sounds like the seller was trying to drag it out. If you havent I would escalate the dispute now for a chargeback

    Thats what got me too!
If they are such a good seller why has it been nearly a month with no delivery and no response from seller? Granted things go missing in post so that may not be sellers fault but ignoring messages is not 'good seller' practice in my eyes. Also giving another 10 days as per ebay 'resolution' service would put me right near the 45 day limit and who knows what they would suggest I do then - hmmm seems like ebay and paypal not playing by the same time-limits!

I tried on Sunday evening to report an item that hadn't arrived. I kept getting told to ring their customer services number but the line was closed when I was on. Every way I tried to report it I kept getting that message. Eventually some how I managed to find a way of getting into the dispute thing.
It seems a bit backward to force people to call a telephone line for something that is done compeltely on-line. Especially as in the past its been impossible to get to speak to anyone at Ebay.

It's not meant to force you, but it is a useful option. There is still a continue to resolution centre button at the bottom. I've had a lot of help from ebay phone people, they have sorted it out so that I got my money back straight away (paying it direct from them ) when a seller was NARU'ed, and speeded up the process with another claim. I don't like phones though, and usually when I have to go to dispute it is late in the evening so I don't bother.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

Well despite telling ebay to forget it as allowing another 10 days would be pointless as seller already ignoring messages and item would them be received whilst I was on holiday (when it was needed for) - ebay have now sent me a message saying they have contacted seller on my behalf giving them the days to deal with this!! As my paypal claim is already escalated this will no doubt confuse seller and i've messaged ebay back to say so.

Seller has uploaded tracking information (despite never mentioning this or providing this during the past 4 weeks of asking) and the numbers are showing as too long on royal mail website - the number is something like PAA013277885 does anyone know what kind of tracking this is? Nothing has been received and as total payment was under £9 I doubt this is a courier and if it is I am now worried seller has sent the items out today...! Already bought replacements and dont want them sent now after nearly 4 weeks - help!

Doesn't look like a UK number - are they overseas?

That looks more like the receipt code on a certificate of postage.

Not Royal Mail, theirs ends with GB. Possibly you been scammed there and i would escalate the claim with paypal further despite what the eBay people tell you.

Its a pain when people don't reply to messages.

No, they UK. When I try tracking number on parcelforce website it says no information available just now so possibly a PF tracking number which is weird for such a small value order.

What happens if they have dispatched it today by Parcelforce?
Do I have to accept it if it arrives now?
Surely they cant win dispute if they have only sent item after it was raised and nearly 4 weeks after payment. Ebay says they should dispatch within 7 days and this is nearly 4 weeks on and I bought replacements on ebay yest afternoon (more expensive but great feedback for quick delivery as time is now crucial due to original non-delivery). They are swim-wear type items and I bought two from original seller but now bought two more expensive from another seller (exact same item more or less so not a better item), If these original ones turn up I will have 4 for my holiday when I only need 2 - help!
