£1000 bill! What are my options?
Options
Hi everyone,
I've just been hit with a £1000 mobile phone bill from t-mobile which was caused by me using roaming charges over a 2 hour period when on holiday in Serbia 2 weeks ago. I used the internet in an emergency and am just wondering if I have to pay he bill in full straight away or if I have any grounds to reduce or spread payment (my phone is currently barred from sending texts/making calls/using the web).
Here's the background as to why I had to use it (cutting a very long story short)...
I was at a music festival in Serbia and got lost from my two mates I was with in the crowd. I decided to leave the festival and walk back to the campsite (approx 15min walk). Took a wrong turning as it was my first night there and ended up walking through what looked like some sort of disused military centre. The campsite was actually situated on the site of an old army barracks so I thought I was close. Suddenly a security guard appears and starts shouting at me in Serbian. I can't speak Serbian and he can't speak English so we cannot communicate and he escorts me off the premises to an exit in a completely different direction as to where I came from. I am now stuck with only rural farmland infront and noone about. This is where I decided to use google maps on my phone to navigate me back to the campsite. Took about 2 hours and has cost me £1000
The rate was £7.50 per megabyte.
Anyway, is there anything I can do about the bill? If not at least I have a story to tell I suppose.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Adam

i would advise that you call them and ask if you can pay it in installments- they are unlikely to reduce the bill as you are liable for the chargesThe only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about - Oscar Wilde:beer:

Wow! Google maps sure came to the rescue but at a very high cost. It has certainly saved me a number of times too. As suggested, they may not reduce the charges, but can agree to a payment plan. Just give them a ring and see what your options are.
Good luck!0 -
133mb.. i would query that data usage for 2 hours. I took my phone around with Washington DC with me, and use the satellite/hybrid view in google maps, and didn't use anywhere near that amount in about 5 hours...
