Hi
Im soon to be moving to Sheffield to take up a new position. Im basically having to relocate to a completely different city and have no idea of the best places to stay.
My office will be based on Eccleshall Road and I was wondering if anyone could provide a indication as to the best places to stay with easy commute (walk/bus) to work. Also, what are the going rates for a 1 bed apartment/studio and any areas I should avoid?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Cheers

"Ecky Road" is studentsville. Having said that, there are some nice flats there, although I don't know if you'd want to live on the main road or not (and it is a busy road). Depending on your budget, you might like to look at somewhere like Dore or Fulwood, I think S10 is the postcode, they're both nice places but you'll pay for the pleasure. You can get a one bed flat for about £500 a month, but you could pay almost £800 for something really nice (not that you have to, this is money saving expert after all!).
You could get the bus into Ecky Road easily enough from both of those places, its not far from town either, 20 min walk or so depending where abouts on the road your office is.0 -
Thanks for your reply....much appreciated!
I just basically want an area which is safe, not to noisy at night and easy to commute to/from work each day by public transport!
Ill have a look and see what I can find, but thanks again.
Cheers

Eccleshall Road is basically a student area as ciano said but there are some nice places to eat ( Thai at the top end of the road is excellent) and decent shops plus reasonable accommodation - just check out rentals at rightmove.co.uk for the postcode

I will do thanks!
First time finding my own place to stay so a bit nervous/excited to be honest! Just need to find a nice area to stay in that is close to everything I'LL need
Thanks for your help0 -
Don't know whether they are just lucky but my daughter and son-in-law had a two bed terrace in Crookes S10 for £450 pm and now have another bigger terrace for £550 in S10 but not quite as up in the Stratosphere as parts of Crookes! So £500 for a one bed flat seems rather high unless it is somewhere fancy like Dore or am I being very naive?RICHARD WEBSTER

Crookes isn't the best part of S10, its very studenty though conveinient for the local shops.
Better part of S10 is further south round Eccleshall Road.
Have you thought of looking in S11, Eccleshall Road extends into S11 and from memory that is where the nicer, greener parts would be. My daughter and son-in-law didn't mind as they are students! Apparently though a lot of students are now moving out of Crookes to places nearer the City Centre because it's OK in the mornings to walk downhill to the University but the evening trudge back up is a killer apparently!RICHARD WEBSTER
