The very best thing I ever did was for me, I get up a half an hour before everyone else. That half hour is for me, it's all mine, before anyone else is up. In the winter I watch the news and have my brew in peace, in the summer (well you know what I mean) I have it in the garden. It helps me collect my thoughts and sets me up for the coming busy day. My magic half hour.

I think there is some good advice on here. I always like it when I am up long before anyone else because I can collect myself before the noise starts. Unfortunately DS (5) likes to do this too so more oftenthan not he's the first up!I do find that I seem to be the only person who gets niggled by things like beds not being washed weekly. The others won't complain until they stick to their sheets (bleurgh!).I have just had a week off work and have put the time to good use (I feel). I have tiled my kitchen as far as I can until DH boxes in the pipes (we've had the tiles 3 years). I cleared out my utility on Wednesday evening and was able to clean my downstairs loo. I got all of DH's pot plants out of my kitchen where he keeps invading and washed out an old cat litter tray (dusty only I promise!) to put the pots in so they don't leak.I heaved all the pots of paint out of my cupboard under the stairs and put them in front of the non working dishwasher. This way I can actually get to them to give the rooms a quick repaint. They'll look much better then. This week I am going to tile my downstairs loo. I will probably do it when I pick the kids up this evening as it won't take more than an hour. It's only about 30 tiles and no cuts involved. And because I got in and cleaned everything first and I have left the grout and tiles ready I can just get on with it.I am forever procrastinating but I find that I get on with stuff much more if I just get the radio on and get going. When I was getting bored of tiling I would stop to empty the TD and WM and swap them over. It was a change of scenery and everything was getting done. When it comes to managing DH I find it far easier to launch a load of little jobs on him on a Wednesday evening when his Mum is round. He tries to avoid doing it and she says don't worry I'll clean the loo (or whatever it is) and that shames him into it. This way at least 1 job gets done by him. So Wednesdays seem quite productive now!The best thing is to just start. Anywhere will do. Gradually you will find that order starts to creep in without you realising!

Like I say, I don't know what's wrong with me these last couple of weeks - my get up and go seems to have got up and gone! I think it's because I've just finished a really good book and I was using that as a reward - do 15 mins and you can have 15 mins of the book - and now I haven't got any rewards to offer myself AND it's pitch black before 8 o'clock I'm getting into hibernation mode I think! :rotfl:

How about using a SAD lamp? Mine has made all the difference to me and I have started using it already as we start to suffer from sunlight deprivation really quickly. Use it when reading or watching TV.

    Best wishes,
    Molly
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Just two tips from me:

A little bit at a time but a bit every day. What I would call `positive` stuff ie not sitting at the computer. Something like tidying a cupboard or cleaning a window or sorting the fridge

Keep a book on incomings and outgoings and get one lot of cash out every month and put it into different envelopes to keep in your undie drawer

Bit by bit you will get your life back. Every time you get a room finished then you will get more energy into your life (feng shui)
  • all good advice offered so far.....

If you are very tired how about a trip to the GP for a checkover? You might be mildly anaemic...which can make you feel pretty dreadful.

I'm a SAD sufferer - don't take medication...but do have a SAD light - it's on as I type and it's great...but you have to read the instructions - and use it at the right time of day....

Flylady thread is helping me sort the domestic chaos - slowly and using babysteps - it's coming and I feel better for it! I'm not going to be Kim and Aggie or Anthea Turner any time soon....(and yes I have got the books/DVD's etc)......but i am less likely to panic if the door bell rings!

Calenders and lists will become your best friends - at first I felt an idiot writing stuff down...but it is now becomming second nature.

Good luck - you know where we are!:j

House is a mess, forget birthdays, Struggle to keep shopping bills down, eat alot of processed meals and takeaways.

To top this of due to hubbys redundnacy we now have very little money ( struggle to keep afloat) so now need to get finances better.

Would love any tips on how to start getting my life straight!

  • I think flylady....shiney sink and all that is great. By all means sort out C.(I refuse to write the full word in September) clean your cupboards whatever floats your boat!

But do not neglect your soul and inner being. Go for a walk, take up dancing, hug a crystal or a tree!:rotfl:

Just a quick note to add I got my Rainbows prep done! Woohoo! I decided I'd been schlepping round the house all day - on a so-called day of rest - and procrastinating and hadn't had much quality ME time, so I did my Rainbows prep while watching the very lovely David Tennant in Casanova. Why didn't I think of DT as the ultimate reward/incentive before? :rotfl:
