Stop Tap Replacement

Just wondering if anyone can help me - what is the going rate to get a stop-tap completely replaced?. As ours has has a leak on it from above and has stuck solid :-(

Is this the outside one and is your responsibility or the water board?

its the one just inside the house and it looks like my responsibility :-(

I've been quoted £325 for one just outside the house and that includes digging up the drive!

ive been quoted a maximum of £150 dependant upon what or how much needs replacing. So that cost sounds ok.

£150 seems expensive to me, probably an hour 's labour plus parts, get some more quotes

Replacing the stop tap shouldn't take more than 30 minutes in itself and isn't so difficult a DIY job. You can buy a replacement tap for £5. All you need to do is to isolate the mains supply in the road at your meter. You should already have the appropriate connections anyway on your existing plumbing. A spanner and a bit of elbow grease is all that's required. I'd expect a plumber to charge about £70 for straight swap.
