Hugs chick i have no practical advise but couldnt read and run he sounds like a bit of a pig and you are well rid of him.
If you have the reciept surely the police have to return the washer to you have you contacted them?:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
I think your ex has been lucky and got a sypathetic ear when he contacted the police. As far as i'm aware they should not have exepted credit card receipts as ownership, i have heard of this before where one person says they paid for it (on CC) but the other has the recipt in their name and in those instances the police did not get involved as it was an ownership dispute and recommended court to sort it out.
I think you should contact them(police) and ask then demand you get it back, they will not be happy if your ex has wasted their time for goods that were not his. it may even be that you get all the items returned. if your ex has sold them on i'd see about the small claims as to me it would seem he got the police involved for spite.slowly going nuts at the world:T0 -
I'd get back in touch with them and at least get the washer back, not sure if you can claim now though after signing the paperwork saying you can't prove you own them. Do you have a number for them?0

i feel for you x when i left my ex he sent the police round saying tht i 'stole' his suitcase which he brought for £5 off a bunch of shoplifters anyway so no reciept, and the policeman that turned up at my nan's to talk to me looked very sheepish as he had been told the back story (my ex was very abusive) and actually said he could not believe ex had dragged police into his power play!
Anyway i said he could take the suitcase and he said 'don't bother, just keep it as long as you don't use it to move back in he was just trying to waste everyones time we just wanted to check you were ok!' :rotfl:
Sometimes men just don't realise that they are the ones that end up looking like idiots. I think the police are probably well aware of what he was doing and had their hands tied. I am sure they will get it back!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

thanks for replies, i signed the police officers book stating " I have an interest in the property concerned and believe it to be mine though i am aware i cannot produce reciepts at this time therefroe i allow pc,, pc,,, to take these items.
they said i had no choice or they were going to arrest me for theft!!!
my ex made it quite clear he was going to do all he could to make my life hell for having him arrested, this was said infront of police , but it has been dismissed.
i know i need to call the police but i will be honest, i have no faith in the police at all,
and my ex will certainly have sold my washer by now. that would have been dne within the hour of him getting it.
all this because i stood up to him.. even now he is still bullying me, the to**erect ect ect ect ect ect ooohhh the blood is boiling! :rotfl:

I'd still get in touch with them. Have they definitely turned the stuff over to him? Surely if you now have the receipt, and they were going to arrest you for theft, if he's sold them on knowing they're not his, then he can be arrested?0

Good thinking! I would ring them now and get over there. I also lost a washing machine to my ex. I didn't know i could have got the police to pick it up!
And with regard to your ex in general, hang in there. It will be hard at first, but before too long you'll find it hard to believe you ever lived under his shadow!
Good luck with the police xx let us know if you get it sorted!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession
