Buffy - first day of holidays is always a bit........deflating. I felt like that when I 'left' work. So used to following a routine that I didn't quite know what to do with myself so did nothing.

I find it much better now to actually get dressed each day as if I am going somewhere. That makes me more likely to go somewhere or do something whereas if I just sit in my pj's I just watch carp tv..

This makes me wonder....I hope Mrs Spudly is busy making her list.....

Erm.....must get on with my list. So much to do, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed

Lou, my kids are 11 and 13, and both perfectly able to look after themselves - cooking, wasking, loading dishwasher etc. I taught em from being small how to do stuff. My DD loves nothing more than cleaning the oven - strange child :D

They're both going to be busy when I get round to doing this list ;)
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

I meant to ask you actually, Mum defrosted the freezer (or at least the top half this morning) but she didn't take the other drawers out? is that ok?
as long as the stuff didn't start to soften, they will be fine.
I hate our freezers, full of mystery food.
I know the feeling. At least I knew that when I defrosted the tub of purple cooked 'stuff' the other week I remembered it was red cabbage and apple.......not stewed plums as i'd thought when I first started to defrost it a few weeks previously !!

You are going shopping soon right?

I've got some meat arriving on Wednesday. I had a 30% off voucher from my favourite butcher (from a quiz I did on their website) and I've got some veg. coming from abel and cole on Thursday from the last of the 4 weeks from the offer, this order should trigger a £50 credit on my abel and cole account for the next couple of weeks ahead. I don't normally use abel and cole - their meat prices are horrific, but this offer has been good, although I am drowning in carrots which keep arriving!!! Another carrot cake is needed :D

  • Ames - I was the same with Captain Corelli's Mandolin - and, yes, that time the film sucked.

Sammy - My Grannies had knitted toilet roll doll covers - and some strange-looking kilty thing on the huge whisky bottle for putting change in

ZTD - thanks for the history trip suggestions yesterday - we're oop north and can't go too far unfortunately

Buffy - ease off a bit for a few days at least...

Luc - that sounds yum :D I'm teaching a 1 night middle eastern food session in September. I'll probably do something tagine-y with roasted vegetables that night. Then there will be a 5 weeks middle eastern food course in January.

    We're 5 hours behind Sammy.
Been sleeping at least 8 hours a night. :o
Supposed to be napping now but not actually tired.
We have a beer crisis so need to pop to the shop later! :D
Friend is talking about a few days in Savannah (?). Don't think budget will stretch somehow.

Anything else happened. Is DH healthy today Sammy?

I loved the Captain Corelli book, but haven't seen the film. From what I've heard though it's terrible!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
