Am I being fobbed off and what should I do?

Basically, I have been looking for the Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo online for as cheaply as possible (of course!). I found it on a website who offered a price promise which was to match any price in any shop and give an extra 10% of the difference.
Anyway, I found it for nearly £20 cheaper so I challenged them. They accepted and offered it to me with the discount.
I went to order the item and lo and behold, as soon as I told them I had a price match and had been told it would be honoured they suddenly had "just sold the last one"!
However annoying that may be it gets worse because I went online to see if they were indeed "out of stock" and they weren't!!!!! I can order it for the full price on their website.
I have sent them an email letting them know how it looks to me and how disappointed I am but is there anything I can do? Surely, if they have offered me something, they should have to follow through with it?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would say it comes under the sale of goods act but not 100% certain... hopefully someone should be along shortly with a little luck who can tell you :)
Can you prove that they still have them in stock? Does their site say how many are in stock? (I know some sites do :) )

  • I doubt there is anything you can do about it, poor show from the shop though. If it's any use, I bought my Jumperoo from ebay for £23.00 virtually brand new - there are hundreds on there. Or Amazon is selling them at the moment for £67.99 with free delivery.

The website says there is one left and will quite happily take me through the checkout process.
I have been looking on ebay and have my eye on one or two and it was the Amazon price that they matched!
I think it is a complete con and obviously am more than a little peed off!!!
I just thought there might be something I could do seeing as they are being crafty little !!!!!!s!

Unfortunately, they have the right to refuse a sale.

I'd get it from Amazon personally.

They emailed me yesterday to tell me that the assistant hadn't told me they had sold out but had said that I couldn't get next day delivery but could still order it. After this massive lie I told them not to insult my intelligence and would be buying it elsewhere.
I ordered it from Amazon this morning!!:j

    Thanks for your replies!
