Oh, good luck with the consultant!

May I ask a quick question? How long does a c-section scar hurt for? I wasn't given any painkillers, I'm cautious about BF and OTC meds and I found myself crying from pain last night.

Hey SS.. My first thought when I saw you'd posted was "Aww, is she still not sleeping?" then I realised I'm probably the daft one for still being awake myself!

How is your scar stitched up? I had dissolvable stitches on the inside and the ends of the threads came out at each end of the scar, with beads and metal clips. It hurt for the first four days but relief came on day five when they snipped the clips off. It's to do with everything tightening back up too tight until you get rid of the clips and you can stretch a bit further. It used to hurt me when I stood up; I'd get waves of tingling all down my body for the first thirty seconds of having my feet on the floor, but it got better after about day six/seven then I just had to be careful not to stretch, reaching-for-the-sky style for another week or so.

Aside from your tum, how are things going? :) You can take paracetamol and ibruprofen when breastfeeding ;) ETA: Info here.

Quick update on vague routine:night two.. Rhys has been asleep for over two hours and is just starting to stir now. I'm staying awake for a while to see if he means it and wants feeding or if he's just talking to himself

I have an incredibly funky stitch arrangement with buttons on each end. The thing will come out at the end of the week. I hadn't thought of the tightening being responsible but it makes sense - standing up is definitely the worst part.

I slept four hours plus a catnap or two. I was thrilled till now when I realised how little that is.

It's good if you're feeding on demand and Molly let you have four hours to sleep between feeds! :D

Whilst I was still in hospital, I had a rope ladder tied to the end of the bed to pull myself up on, although the other advice I was given was to roll on my side, then sit up sideways, slowly pushing myself up with my hands, rather than using my tummy muscles to sit up forwards, if that makes sense

I feel sorry for her missing out on her first grandchild and I'm sure she would adore Charlotte if she got to know her. Craig said I'm not to make contact though as she walked away from us and said not to contact her again, so it's up to her to get back in touch if she wants a relationship.
My dad is like that - he hasn't spoken to me for years and at family gatherings he refuses to look at Alice. (He didn't even come to my wedding so one of my brothers gave me away.) It doesn't bother me too much as I'm used to it and it's his loss anyway but my Aunties get really upset by it. OH is a bit bothered about how we're going to explain it to Alice when she gets a bit older but it's not like we can do anything about it.

I was wondering, for those with more than 1 child did you get a lot less presents for 2nd+ child? When Chris was born I wrote a list of all the cards and presents in my notepad and it was nearly 3 pages, I wrote Edgar's in the same pad and it was barely a page. now I'm not bothered if I get presents off people but to give for the 1st child and not the 2nd I find annoying
Presumably though some things that were given you would use for the second child anyway so the second child doesn't need as much stuff? I wonder if whether the second child is the same or opposite sex makes a difference?

I've been dithering over whether to accept a wedding invitation, because it means leaving Cliodhna for a whole day. My mum has said she will mind her and I trust her more than anybody even DH, but I know I will worry anyway. DH would be going with me.

The thing is though it my cousins wedding from my Dad's side and all my Dad's side of the family will be there. Most of them I have not seen since I was 15 and lost contact with my Dad. I have only sort of resumed contact with him in the last year, and it would be nice to see all those relatives again. Im not sure what to do!!!
Is there any way you can take her with you? All the weddings we've been to since Alice was born have specifically included Alice. At the age she is now I'd be willing to leave her with OH while I went to a wedding if there was no other option but when she was younger I would have just explained that I couldn't leave her for that long so if I couldn't bring her I wouldn't be able to come.

Been talking to James and he's been telling me how he's going to buy a flat or small house in our village as he'd like to move out and be independant but he doesn't want to be too far from home. He's going to let Charlotte go round for her tea some days. He's 10 :D
:rotfl: That's so sweet that he plans to be nearby.

Not sure but I think there's quite a large age range and some children just go straight to walking without crawling.

Charlotte has started bed hopping the last couple of nights. She wakes up about 4-5am and goes and gets into bed with someone else. Joshua sleeps in a high sleeper bed and last night she managed to climb up the ladder in the dark to get in with him

Will see how she goes but might have to consider a safety gate on her bedroom door.
Here I go again on my own....

    Morning all..

Well Rhys slept 1230 to 0520 with a bit of whinging at 0300 which didn't amount to much, then 0530 to 0810. Only thing we did differently was warm his blanket before lying him on it

I could do with another hours kip, but daren't go back to sleep in case I don't wake up for our first appointment :o

ETA: Good Lord.. the builders are here - BEFORE 9am!
