i have just finished my first year at college and was wondering, where do i go to get the best student discount deals.
i made a quick little search on google, but couldnt really find anything "useful", most cards are only for uni students rather than people like me.
any help will be appreciated.
thanks

Do you not have a college student card?0

Isn't your college part of the NUS?
That said, I've never had an NUS card in my -life- and have always used college, and now uni cards without ever being questioned on it.:j [STRIKE]Debt Free[/STRIKE] Savings Wannabe! :jCurrent problems: £107 overdrawn in bank, £112 in unpaid DD'sSavings made: £00 -

Most places in my experience look for a card with a picture on from college/uni with an expiry date.
However, recently I have been refused a discount in a couple of pubs because my card was not an NUS card/didn't have the letter NUS on it. Although this is my first experience of this in a year, it does happen0 -

All of my college and uni ID cards -have- had photos and expiry dates on.:j [STRIKE]Debt Free[/STRIKE] Savings Wannabe! :jCurrent problems: £107 overdrawn in bank, £112 in unpaid DD'sSavings made: £00 -

The vast majority of places or at least staff will accept your university card which is strange as they must be easily forge able. In my first year at Uni I got the NUS card, when it cost £2, and also used it with no problems in the second year when it had expired. I dropped out after that and since leaving have used my uni card for discounts with few problems even after it expired in 2008.
On a related topic I tried to use it in the cinema last night and the guy actually checked the date and knocked me back. It is really annoying to pay the full price as I will always consider myself a student at heart. Is there a good way of getting a new realistic looking uni card or even making one yourself. I have heard of some people making and selling cards but would not know how to go about it myself.0 -
There are loads of discounts to be had and loads of different rules and regulations but the one that is definately worth having and the official one is the NUS Extra Card. I have never had it knocked back. I know it costs £10 but I really do think it is worth it and I think this year you can add ISIC for a £1 - which is definately worth having if you are travelling or on overseas placement. I convinced my mum to buy it for me... told her it would save her a fortune in the long run!
Check it out here: you can leave your email here and get details when it comes out on 4th August.

Just a moment of MSE - I've never owned an NUS card and certainly never paid for one. My uni/college card has always been enough - And on the one occasion that I was stopped with it, I spun a tale about my NUS card being stolen and I was waiting for the replacement.:j [STRIKE]Debt Free[/STRIKE] Savings Wannabe! :jCurrent problems: £107 overdrawn in bank, £112 in unpaid DD'sSavings made: £00
