Hi morgan, and welcome!
Ideally, you need a ruthless friend to help you!
1.Okay, choose one room.
2. Have a couple of large boxes and binbags. Put on loud bouncy music!!
3. Pick up any obvious rubbish in the room and binbag. Add anything that is broken and which you will not repair. Recyclables in a recycling bag of course! Remove anything you no longer want or clothes that are not in fashion, or no longer fit, books that you will not read again, and any films/music that is no longer to your taste. Put these in a charity bag, and as soon as possible take them to a charity shop - ideally the same day.
4. Have a cup of tea, and think about the room you are working on - what is its main purpose? eg Kitchen: food storage, preparation, cooking and maybe eating. Bedroom: sleeping etc (;)), clothes storage, dressing, make up.
5.Go back into room, and remove everything from it that does not fit its purpose, and place into boxes. (If you have a spare space anywhere, you can put the boxes there for the time being). Keep one box for any Really Important Stuff (passports, bills, certificates, receipts for large items, keys etc)
6. You should now have a clear enough space to look again. Now think about what you need to keep. Do you have the correct storage for the things that you want to keep? Wardrobes, bookshelves, cupboards etc. This may need a bit of investment of time, money or ingenuity to arrange!
7. If there is anything washable eg bedclothes, teatowels, chair covers etc, put in the washing now.
8. You should now be just about ready to clean so vacuum the floor space - some soft furnishings can be lightly vacuumed too eg lampshades - damp dust all flat surfaces, then if you want to wash down the walls etc. (This is a good point to note any small repairs or redecoration that needs doing)
9. Now you can replace the things that you need or want in the correct storage in the room.
10.Reward yourself with a treat!
The above can be repeated at intervals throughout the house.
This may take considerably longer than a day to do, unless you're really in the mood and full of determination and energy! Break it up into 15 minute or half hour slots. It is then very much easier and quicker to keep it that way.
Have I achieved this in my own house - well, not quite, but I've now done the main bedroom, the livingroom, bathroom and kitchen, and it's now very much easier to keep it clean and tidyish!:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -

Morning all. Not had a very productive morning really, been playing on computer drinking coffee and thats about it. Oh apart from getting little one ready and feeding him. So going to drag myself into the shower and scrub tiles while i'm in there. Husband went for long bike ride this morning so will try and be dressed before he gets home. I should of done lots of ironing last night but didn't do that either. We are out tonight to see Bruno at the cinema and mother in law is baby sitting so i must really get a move on as she works as a cleaner and always notices when house isn't up to scratch. I usually come home to a sparkling house as she's like mrs mop but i always feel guilty so will try and get things looking half decent.0

Morning all
I haven't caught up since Sunday evening so I'll just post first and try to read some posts later.
Pouring with rain. I've washed the cats blankets today and draped them over the banister.
I've done the living room, half yesterday and half today, so I'll ask for my star when the right day comes round
I've done the three things I put on my list, Toots (paid the paper bill, posted the birthday card and booked up for the dog's operation (Friday 31st) with nice vet).
Hope everyone's OK. I'll try to catch up later.
Nearly caught up!
I wasn't online yesterday so I missed Froddy's birthday but I hope it was a good day
Well done on your results Crafty0
