Does anyone know of any good deals for the above ?

I don't want anything special - just something cheap for the free skype-to-skype calls on '3'.

Thanks

The official 3 skypephone might be your best bet, really. You can get an S2 model new for £39.99, or an original S1 model for cheaper on eBay etc. I reckon.

    Thanks.

Anyone know if any 3G phone can be used - even an unlocked one from another network ?

Not really, it has to be a compatible phone because 3 have some special Skype software, but if you go here:

    http://www.three.co.uk/Internet_Services/Call_chat/Call_chat_service?content_aid=1220455597804

and click the "Get Skype on your mobile" link there is a checker that lists compatible phones. Some Sony Ericsson and Nokia 3G phones are compatible.

If you use your own phone, make sure you set the settings right and download the 3 version of Skype from Planet3, if you download the one from the Skype website you won't get free calls because 3's is specially set up to dial a special access number that's free - that's how you get the free Skype calls on 3.

This is the cheapest you will get, but if you go through quidco you get £11 cashback reducing the cost to £29.

I bought a friend one for a gift, it seems very good indeed for the price - I mean it's not an amazing smartphone or anything like that, but it's perfectly competent, does Skype well - there's a unified contact list so you can add Skype names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses to contacts, also good for Facebook and browsing mobile websites, listening to a bit of music (there's a MicroSD slot and A2DP) - yeah, generally a pretty solid all round phone from what I have tried of it.
