Where are all the cheap late deals???

in general having looked around for holidays i have found that there are actually better late minuet deals in the shop than online, the best 2 deals we found were in first choice and thomas cook

persuaded my oh to have a holiay away (havent had a summer hol for about 5 years) thought thiswould be a good year with the credit crunch etc.
I have checked them out all day on teletext and found some really good bargains if you can spend a bit .
Feel a bit despondent now as OH just announced can only afford something less than £200 each - i bravely said ok i can do that .
Searched for ages now any n/w airport , 7 days any accomodation, fly from 8th august to 24th (need to be in work by 1.9.) cant get anything.
Just a hundred or so more and i had a great choice !
Even malta is out of reach on the teletext/thompson and other sites recommended !
Anyone got a real bargain or can suggest a site /holiday to check out( not very good at doing flight /accom seperate as not done this before and a bit scary).
Or is it another year of no holidays:(

All the sites I'm looking at are changing the prices by the minute! I'm worried about booking flights separately incase I can't find decent accom and then stuck with flight!

Just tried that and coming up about 2k for self catering so maybe what I've found isnt that bad for AI.

Where can you fly from?

Manchester or Liverpool, got to be either late Fri 31st or Sat 1st. It dosen't help that I'm really tied to dates cos of work.

Just looked at that but its Ryanair who get horrendous reviews! Manchester flights are Monarch which dont seem too bad. Just had quote of 484 for the 4 of us for everything which is the best I'm getting at the moment.
