I got my indefinite award in 2005 and I haven't had to do a renewal since. DLA did contact me last year when I applied for permission to do permitted work, to ask if my condition had improved, but I didn't have to complete the normal form, just a one page form to say my condition had not changed, and sent it back with a letter from my specialist confirming this.
I'm confused why would you apply to DLA to do permitted work? I've worked throughout my time of getting DLA part time now as had to drop a days work because of health. You can claim DLA and work as long as the work doesn't contradict your reasons for claiming. Eg high rate mobility has nothing that contradicts sitting at a desk.
My last DLA claim was 2006 and got an indefiniate award and so far so good with no nasty forms. Just dream of the day of being well enough to stop my claim myself. Bet we all do though.0 -
Happy for you ladybelle... and for me!
I got a similar letter a couple of weeks ago to say that I've been awarded low care and high mobility indefinitely - I'm 23 and have fibromyalgia, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (H-type) and bipolar disorder, all of which are incurable. It's taken me so long to get mobility component in the first place that I'm just kind of limp with relief about it now, even though the pension service gentleman who helped me fill out all the forms for my renewal (3 hours it took the two of us...) said I should be able to qualify for middle rate care too.
I'm wary of getting a negative result if I challenge it, so I'm not going to for now, but I'm really glad to get the indefinite award, and I imagine you would be too! I got sick of having to renew and fill out all the damn forms over again every year because I'm under 25. Now I don't have to.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0 -

No, sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I get IB, and had to apply for permission to do permitted work. They, in turn, notified DLA, who wanted to know what the work entailed (to ensure that it was not incompatible with my declared diability, which it wasn't) and also asked me to make a declaration as to whether my needs had changed (they had, but for the worse).
Hope this explains things a bit betterI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
