DLA Successful renewal !

Options
Finally heard today - I have been awarded Low Rate Mobility indefinitely - I was shaking and could not open the letter when I saw it on the mat, and then plucked up courage to open it and when I saw the first words "I have awarded you" I was shaking and then when I saw it was an indefinite period I just burst into tears. I've felt like my life's been on hold for months now, knowing the renewal was coming in and then waiting these 9 weeks for the result.

I cannot believe I have it indefinitely - "an indefinite period " is the same as "indefinite" isnt it ?? and I know they say they contact you from time to time - but how often is that likely to be ?? Annually ? 2 yearly ? or more ? They didnt contact my GP this time, just relied on the statements I'd sent in.

I'm so happy today :j:j:j:j I want to thank everyone on here who was so kind and patient with all my stressy posts. I dont think I could have got through it without this wonderful board xxxx

great news for you!opening that envalop is horrible!I think indefinate is what you describe-you may be asked to complete another form but you should be okay for a few yrs.relax now and dont forget you get it backdated from day form recieved usually or when previous claim ran out.
:j this money saving is such fun:T

Well done! What a relief!

Yes 'indefinite' means there is no renewal date, it will just continue indefinitely.

Usually this sort of award is made when all the medical evidence suggests that there is little chance of the condition improving for the foreseeable future - although it can sometimes be difficult to see why one person gets an indefinite award, and another doesn't.

I got my indefinite award in 2005 and I haven't had to do a renewal since. DLA did contact me last year when I applied for permission to do permitted work, to ask if my condition had improved, but I didn't have to complete the normal form, just a one page form to say my condition had not changed, and sent it back with a letter from my specialist confirming this.

Very pleased for you, well done :) I can never open brown envelopes when I'm waiting for something, my hands are weak enough at the best of times! Now enjoy not having to think about it! :)
