Just wanted to say i had a really good experience with M&S too
i really like their curries and bought a big family meal one for me and my young lady before chrimbo but we both felt quite ill the next day and i can only assume it was food poisoning
took the receipt back the next weekend and got a refund and the lady took our details 'cause it was a health and safety thing
didn't hear anything more 'til we got back from hols after chrimbo and found a letter from M&S saying they were looking into it and thanks for bringing it to their attention blah blah blah
then got another letter a couple of days later saying it appeared to be an isolated case, and they apologised and gave us £15 in vouchers
really impressed me0 -

If it is diffficult for you to get to another store could you get a friend or relative to bring it in for you.
Otherwise write to the store manager explaining you are a loyal customer etc and detail the dreadful treatment you recieved and ask if this is company policy these days as if it is then it would explain the difficulties that they are having trying to make a profit.
I would be surprised if you do not get at least an apology especially if you explain that you were not necessarily wanting a refund and had intended till that point to excahange it for a M and S article."This site is addictive!"

ps. poppy....those biscuit curls were lovely..was that a christmas line or do they still stock them?
When they give me waffle about having no stock for months I ask them where they got supplies for their coffee shop from. Funny they always locate a box or two then. Perhaps they are a fav of the staff.
Re jumper. If I hadn't worn it I wouldn't have give up that easily. I would have demanded to see manager there and then and if they had refused to call her/him I would have got out my mobile and rang the telephone number on the till receipt to speak to her/him.
Grrrrrrr M&S today. Staff on till ok - except only 2 of them. They were working flat out while 2 others chatted across them 1 hanging stock on hanger and 1 on the computer. Meanwhile 15 people stood queuing. I said rather loudly to my cashier "You must be exhausted working so hard with a neverending queue. I must ring the manager to tell them they need more staff on the tills."~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I like M&S, I've always found the staff in the Leicester Gallowtree Gate Store are very polite and helpful.0
