Just got back from the farmers market, got lots of lovely looking organic veg and some nice reasonably priced meat. Although I did show my ignorance of all things domestic when I thought that broad beans were peas. At least the guy had the grace not to laugh and just explain!

And my 'hayfever' has now developed a cough. Think I'll be trying to see another GP next week.

Ex is here, we've come to an arrangement. He can stay for a week or two while his benefits are changed from carer's to JSA, and puts in a claim for housing benefit. I'm going to phone shelter later on to get some advice, a friend of his might rent him a room or take him as a lodger, but we need to find out the HB situation for it. So it looks like it's all going to be nice and amicable.

Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

Don't think he'll be paying back the money, but he doesn't want any from me other than what he owes his friend.

  • Hope everyone's well today!

    Happy Birthday Lou..

Woke up this morning to find a ladder going to an upstairs window - seeing as there's no window cleaners round here am assuming the kids forgot their keys again. I'm quite impressed that they managed to manoeuvre it (probably giggling) and climb in without waking us up!

Today I 'should' be planning History course for them - I've been putting it off for weeks but am struggling for motivation. Any teachery advice / kicks welcome...

How old are they? Sorry if you've already said.

  • Thanks a lot Buffy - useful. What do you teach?
We're doing IGCSE (no coursework - easier for Home Ed) I've done a web trawl and got tons of stuff that I now need to sort / chuck etc and do the actual planning. French Revolution / Rise & Fall of Weimar Germany / Rise of Fascism / History of Warfare in the 20th Century. The last 3 overlap a bit - it's the warfare bit that's bugging me at the minute. It just seems overwhelming today but it's got to be done. Sounds a bit pathetic when you write it down .

Has anybody been to Leeds Armouries - am wondering if that would be worth a trip?!?
