Porting Problem

That's a sign that it's a problem with Voda, despite what they've told you it is a Voda issue. They haven't released your number properly. That means getting back on to Voda again, Sorry...0
-
Yes, back to sort it out on Monday. At least I can receive the texts now though on another phone!0
-
Once you give orange the PAC code, its ORANGE's RESPONSIBILITY to make things happen. I would have thought you give orange a ring and ask them to sort this out.0

If Voda haven't released the number there's nothing Orange can do about. If they provisioned it on their system any way regardless the same number would be on both networks at the same time and that would create even more problems.
The issues not helped by Voda's porting team not working weekends, so there's no one there to clear it from the Voda servers. . .0 -
Yeh, the problem is too that I had called Vodafone a few times and they said it's completely gone over the number and there's nothing they can do. Clearly it's not gone over as I'm using both networks at the minute. Hope it gets sorted though soon, neither of them are the friendliest at times though.0

Vodafone still refuse to do anything, all that Orange can do is leave a "message" for them to pickup and release number again.

It doesn't matter now, Vodafone have now said that they will not allow me to port my number over as it was on mobile broadband before, even though their rep has clearly said I can do that here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1807353&highlight=
Wasted a week of phone calls to both who neither of them batted an eyelid when I told them it was mobile bb on vodafone. Now, I have got my old number back and back at square one!

Hi,
I recently took out a contract with Vodafone uk and wanted to transfer my number from O2,so simple vodafone say ...really..i don't think so.here is a letter i have sent to Vodafone UK...
To The Vodafone Manager,
I am writing this letter to you outlining my disgust regarding my request for number porting from O2 UK to Vodafone UK and how badly I have been treated and how very incompetent I find your staff on all levels.
All this occurrence happened in July 2009 when I took out a contract with Vodafone UK and to be quite frank was the worst decision I ever made.
It all started when whilst I was ordering my phone and tariff package I mentioned to your colleague that I have a pay as you go O2 UK number and would like to keep this number,he advised me that I needed to contact O2 and request a PAC code which I did and they sent me the PAC code in the post, when it arrived I contacted Vodafone to give them the PAC code to my amazement no less than 4HOURS and several departments later I finally managed to get to speak to someone who was competent enough to know what I wanted to do,at this point he was just putting me through to the porting team and I was in the process of giving the person my O2 number (which I wanted to keep 07835xxxxxx and the PAC Code )when the mobile went dead(number 07825xxxxxx this number was supplied with contract NOKIA N97) now it became apparent that Vodafone had deactivated this sim number (this was a week before I had my port date) so I then had to use a Vodafone pay as you go number to ring them back.
So here we go again explanations all over again and another 1hr and 30 minutes approx only to be messed around again, each and every time I rang Vodafone I asked for the contract porting team guess what I got the “pay as you talk team” same thing all the time,so anyway eventually I get through once again and still I get excuses upon excuses all for just porting a number yet apparently this is so simple to do(according to Vodafone website) in all apart from ringing them on contract mobile(free) pay as you talk 25p a time(I must have called them around 10 or more times)if I didn’t get cut off I was on hold and redirected to another department.
This went on for days until eventually I was given the port date 27th July 2009 between the hours of 11:00am to 4:00 pm please have mobiles switched off, this I did the previous night 26th July 2009 at 12:00 midnight.
So 27th July 2009 both sim cards failed registration(bare in mind the Vodafone contract sim was deactivated a week prior to this) still do not know why this occurred.
I telephoned again at around 4:00 pm on the 27th July 2009 to ask why is my number not ported and why am I getting the sim registration failed error, they replied “we do not know hang on we will put you through to the porting team” on hold again, yes you guessed it redirected to another department, ranmg again at 5:00 pm told it would sorted by 6:00 pm,telephoned back again only to be told “the porting team have now closed (shut at 5:00 pm) we are sorry nothing we can do,so I did actually speak to another chap who was trying to help but even that was pointless,he then said to me these things can take a time give it till around 8:00 pm should all be done…no apparently not still no sim working.
28th July 2009 on the phone again asking what has gone wrong I will not go through all the explanations again as this is now becoming tiresome what I will say is after all this they then decided to inform me that the number that was given to them by me was infact 07833xxxxxx and not 07835xxxxxx how in the hell could this happen as everytime they asked me I gave them the correct number and the PAC code ,I have had this number 6 years with 02 UK and it is my business number on my vehicle, business cards, website and invoices, surely this is a joke, anyway I have below the excuses thus so far:
By now I must know everyone who works for Vodafone and all the departments they have.
Here we have the reasons for my number not being ported:
1.We are not sure whats going on
2.I have been banned from the network
3.02 have not released the number
4.Incorrect mobile number given.
Amongst others.
Surely I was beginning to think this was a joke so I rang O2 UK,no we have definitely released it let me just check “replied yes our system indicates ported to Vodafone” so off I go ringing Vodafone again, this time around several hours later, again port team closed(typical) so I proceed to ask for a PAC code to be ported back to O2 UK as I had just about had enough of their lame excuses and incompetence ,so I was given a PAC code by Vodafone I then telephoned O2 UK to give them the code as I want to return to O2 ok we will get a new sim out to you will be changed over in 48 hours great I said.
Now I telephone Vodafone to cancel the contract,I spoke to one guy who said yes it seems to be all sorted now we can see the problem and it will be done over night switch off phones etc,I replied not good enough I have had enough, the next bit is unbelievable, I then get through to a Vodafone staff member who said can I help you” I replied no you cannot sorry,oh well please tell me what the problem is,I reply I want to cancel my contract that I cannot use (can you believe this)so I find my self explaining the problem all over again, she replied do you want to stay with Vodafone I said yes hence the reason for taking the contract out but I don’t want all this hassle,ok she said just let me put you on hold,(story of my life)sometime later the lady returns ok I have just been talking to my manager and another colleague and what we are going to do is post a sim card with all the corrected information so when you receive it you just put it into your mobile phone and you will be back on the Vodafone contract WITH your number you wanted ported,I replied, so this will be my O2 number that I wanted to keep, she replied yes, it should be with you Thursday 30th July or Friday 31st July 2009 at the latest, I could not believe what I had just heard.
In total this will be 5 days if not more I have been without my business mobile number.
And this is what they call simple porting.
Also sent an email to CEO Vodafone – NOTHING…
WE SHALL SEE!!!!!!!!
I have come to the conclusion that Vodafone are useless and incompetent.0 -
Hi TECHUK1,
This is certainly not the start we'd want any customer joining us to get off to.
Have you had a reply to your email yet?
If not, we'd be happy to take a look into this for you if could send us details using the 'Contact us' form on the Vodafone website.
When sending your email you'll just need to include the link to this thread and state the code WRT135 in the body of the email to make sure it comes through to us.
Thanks,
