Buggies v travel systems

lots of great advice from every-one but I think it comes down to personal choice and circumstances. But for a bargain definately check out NCT sales!! I discovered them when mine were older alas. The prices that some of the prams etc go for is ridiculously cheap. Lots of mums get rid of that large lovely cosy buggy after a few months to make space for all the other stuff. The people that sell get rid of their item, you get a bargin plus the NCT gets a cut from the sale of the item! Everyone happy.0

I got a maclaren XT techo for baby savingsgirl. Its suitable from birth, very easy to use and folds up small. I tend to do a lot of walking and stay local. I have friends who have bought this and used it right up until they no longer need a buggy.
It is definitely the best buggy I have had (have used a travel system and a two seater in the past)Auntie Savingsgirl 24/9/06 :j0 -
A buggy that goes from birth (McClaren does this) is best. Forget about the travel system. Everyone I know (I meet a lot of mums in many play groups) all regret getting the travel system. Its good for the first few months then you wonder why you bought such a large cumbersome thing; that is difficult to get into the boot of the car, onto buses and trains and move about. Everyone who buys a travel system always end up buying a buggy. So spend a bit on your buggy that starts from birth and that will be that. Or carry your baby in a sling (great for getting about & your baby will love this close feeling & so will you) for 3-6months then get a cheaper buggy that starts from 3-6months.
The only advantage a travel system has is that it can carry more stuff at the bottom carrier.
I had a pram and a buggy and used the pram whenever I wanted to do a large food shop. But now I have discovered online shopping and I now buy everything bulky online and go out with my buggy to buy the things like veg, fruit, eggs & milk.“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson
