I killed my Blackberry Curve after 4 months - What chance of O2 selling me a refurb?

I (stupidly) dropped my 4 month old, new BB Curve (as part of an O2 retentions deal). Unfortunately, it dropped into a sink full of water

Tried all the usual, but although it will start, none of the keys or trackball work, so it is totally unusable.

Haven't had a chance to phone O2 yet (as they are closed right now), but what are my chances of them selling me a replacement BB 8900 refurb ? If they do, what sort of price do you think they wouild sell it for?

I do have insurance for my phone (my home contents insurance covers it), but I'd rather not put a claim in for something that may only cost me sub £200.

Makes my retention deal not quite as good now :wall:

Thanks,
Kevin.

  • I think 02 sell refurbs at half the cost of a new one.

I spoke to hardware the other day and they're not doing any sim free BlackBerry refurbs at the moment.

Why don't you get a quote for repairing it first?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

That's probably a good idea. To be honest, I reckoned as it was fried, it would be cheaper to get a refurb, rather than repair it, but you are right, it wouldn't do any harm to get a repair quote first.

Looks like I will be going down the repair route as I phoned O2 and they have no refurbs in, so I asked about simply purchasing a new one, and they said they won't sell a BB 8900 without a contract. So I can't even buy one from them, whether I wanted to or not
