Tickets issued wrongly - time and again!

I just came home to find the following email waiting for me (names and places removed):
Dear Mr -
Thank you for your emails, I’m sorry I never got back to you to let you know the school was shut last night. It appears clear from your emails that you should not have received parking ticket(s) and I would be very interested to hear what response you get from G- Parking. I will contact G- Parking to ask in the first instance that your ticket is immediately rescinded, why these tickets continue to be given out and for them to ensure to me that their wardens will be informed that B- Crescent is out of their jurisdiction.
You will know that G- Parking no longer comes under the direct control of G- City Council but is a wholly council owned ‘arms length external organisation’, however this does not excuse their incompetent behaviour regarding B- Crescent and I will endeavour to put an end to this immediately.
Please let me know if you are happy with this course of action or if there is anything else you would wish me to do.
I look forward to hearing from you
Yours truly,
(etc, etc)
:T

Great stuff! Hope your councillor gets somewhere with it: sounds like he/she is on the case.
I wish more people would do what you've done. Lots of people moan about things their councils do or don't do, but not many people actually take the trouble to contact their elected representatives about it. For that matter not many people bother to vote in local elections. But your councillors can make a difference to things like this, and ususally try to help if they can.
So good on you.0 -
The council IS responsible for the actions of the arms length company whether wholly owned or just plain outsourced (such as NCP).
I suggest that you be very wary of this misleading stance from the council which is trying to abrogate their legal responsibility.
I also suggest that this 'wholly owned arms length company' be very closely examined indeed. Articles of Association, director and financial reports and council decisions regarding it. This type of arrangement is highly suspect in my experience.0 -
Thanks for the comments and the advice, folks - we've been trying to work our way round this issue for almost ten years, and the help offered here seems to have resolved it in 4 days!
I'm truly chuffed - cheers!0
