At the min we are with BT and pay something like £12 per month for free evening and weekend calls, we also have Sky TV, would it be cheaper to switch to Sky talk? We also have broadband with BT that cost £22.50 a month, would this also be cheaper with Sky? Sorry but I am confussed by all the small print etc on these things. Thanks in advance

Most suppliers are cheaper than BT, to be fair. Is Sky? It would totally depend on your calling patterns, TBH. Some things that are included with BT (0845/0870) aren't with Sky (and they charge you an arm and a leg to call these numbers). It's never as simple as at first thought. Plus, something that people often forget - if you sign up to Skytalk/BB etc there's a min 12 month contract, which effectively means you are also sort of committed to another 12 months of Sky tv because you can't have one without the other. If you circumstances change meaning you need to cut back this could be a problem.

PS Your broadband cost from BT is frankly ridiculous. £22.50 per month for just broadband?

I know, but we live at a non LLU exchange, so its never gonna be any cheaper than £16 or so anyway

Have a look at Post Office Homephone with Broadband Standard £20.50 a month or Broadband Extra £24.95 a month ( Phone Line comes with lots of inclusive calls) and at the moment you can still use www.18185.co.uk to get cheaper peak and mobile calls.

I have Sky with free broadband (basic) free phone calls evening and weekends,
(basic cost for all that is £16.50) no problem with 0845/0870 calls if you make use of saynoto0870. My line rental is £10 per month, i think this is about to rise to £11 shortly.
I have had no problem with Sky and we have had them for donkeys years.
If you are interested, ring them, they will give you the earth if you tell them you are just thinking about it and let them think they have talked you into it.
(free line rental, half price line rental, half price sky etc)
Customer services i have always found to be brilliant.
You could always ring up for a quote, you dont have to go ahead with it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If you have no LLU in your exchange then the cheapest are post office or plusnet (which is owned by BT).

If you want to stay with BT then you can get £2.00 line rental discount if you are on free evening and weekend plan or anytime plan on a 12 month contract.
also they would give you a reduced rate on your broadband if you agree a new 12 month contract.

call 0800800030 and ask what you can have for staying with BT.

Off topic-ish but in singing the praises of the BT reps on this thread I note that their PM box is full so I can't message them! It's a bit of an urgent issue so I think I'm going to have to brave their phone customer services. :-(
 - Just because I love this emoticon!

spamming aside, why would anybody in their right might pay £19.99 a month when they can get it added to their sky package free:confused:

Since when have Sky done Phone Line,Calls, and Broadband for free? :D
  • Talktalk do broadband, line rental and free calls (evenings and weekends) for £17.74 a month, or £4 more for unlimited free calls anytime.
