Morning all
T2GU,Have a lovely day
PIR, where you off to on your hols? Have a fantastic time, don't go overboard with the boozeDefinately get a slow cooker, it's the best thing you can buy. Shove your dinner on in the morning and then have the evening free to do other stuff, plus in winter coming home to a lovely smelling house with a nice casserole (veggie or not!) is wonderful!! Get over to the OS board and check out some recipes.
FH, how was the sweet & sour chicken
Budgie, thanks for the lovely message, yes I think DD1 is having a lovely time, she rang last night and it was full of laughter in the background, she says that she is tanned already and are driving across the border to Portugal to visit the beaches there today, so jealous
WB, thank the lord you are back, I was missing your witty posts :rotfl: don't worry about the lack of AF'ness, I've been total crap (curse of the scorer don't you know ), soon to be rectified thoughgreat to have you back in the fold, don't go AWOL again! Pick your target for August carefully, I've been a bit slapdash on the scoring front, peeps changing their targets willy nilly
doubt we'll be allowed any of that next month :undecided
40SM, you have been very quiet recently, you okay?
Fay, congrats for smuggling the grass successfullyand congrats for staying AF
Lurky, you drop in and out like it's a hotel, honestly  how you doing? What you been doing? Where you going next month? Questions, questions.....
Morning to everyone else
I've been doing so amazingly bad on the AF'ness front over the past few weeks, feel at rock bottom today which is an odd place to be. I know some of you are cutter downers so probably wouldn't understand what I'm about to say but those that feel they need to keep AF might.... being at rock bottom is sometimes a great place to be, I'm fed up and feel that the only way is up now and have a renewed determination and am getting positive vibes today. Obviously some people's rock bottoms are not so positive but for me, today, I just feel like I can't carry on the way I am so need to make the change.
Popping into town today, going to take my dear ole mum with me and I think I'll pop into M&S to buy summat nice for dinner and afties, like a chocolate tart and clotted cream  and then treat mum and the kids to lunch in the cafe
Have a lovely day everyone

HAPPY BIRTHDAY T2GU! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Hope you have a lovely day (((hugs)))
Much love to everyone else XNeed to start again0 -
:undecided
40SM, you have been very quiet recently, you okay?
xx
Hi Jo.
Sorry I have not been posting as much the last week or so. Unfortunately I have had the dreaded swine flu:eek: .... getting better but not yet 100%. To make matters worse I have now put my back out (again). I seriously think someone has a Voodoo doll of me :rotfl:
Hope you have a lovely day with your mum. Mine is still in hospital but is slowly on the mend.:A
Echos coming from outside " Mum he hit me " " Well he stuck his tongue out". Kids don't you just love them.:T:rotfl:
Catch you all later
40SM:D0 -
FH, only 1 more day for your jumpy
40SM, my kids are trying to strangle each other and are blowing raspberries in each others faces, me telling them to get off of each other and stop spreading germs is doing absolutely nothing, so when they both start crying in a minute I shall just say 'I told you so' :rotfl: glad to hear your mum is getting a bit better, hope you are too  are you on tamiflu? Did you tell us you had the dreaded SF, I'm a drunk so maybe you did and I forgot  hugs to you xxDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Okay, so I'm needing some updates from people, it would be great if we could get our actual total somewhere close to the anticipated total!
Haven't heard from a few of you recently....
So please let me know how you're getting on, even if it's not been that great (like me)DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

So true. Some hang on to the bitter end, and in the end the pain becomes too much and then they take the decision to change. When one accepts they are beaten by alcohol, powerless over it and their lives are unmanageable, the change can happen.
That involves doing things differently, trying new treatments etc, as the old methods were not working.
One gets sick and tired of being sick and tired. Then one is ready to do anything to stop this, and then the recovery begins.
There are many false dawns however - I swore myself off alcohol hundreds of times, made promises to wife and kids, and in the end I still kept on drinking.
I sincerely believed I could stop, but I couldn't without the help of others.
When I was desperate enough to reach out for help, and do anything to stop the feeling of despair (and climb up from rock bottom) I got help.
I have alcoholism, and it is such a tough illness. It hurt me time and time again, and I still went back for more.
Not drinking isn't always easy, however, my life is much better with alcohol not in my blood.
The chaos has all but disappeared, and the anger, fear and resentments are more manageable. Life continues, and all its trials, but I cannot think of one single instance where it would have been better if I was drunk.
With acceptance of the condition comes honesty. "Am I honestly doing everything in my power to not drink again?"
If the answer is no, I have no chance, for alcohol is cunning, baffling, powerful.
If the answer is yes, I have a fighting chance, and then the recovery starts.
I tried for years and years to stop/cut down/quit by myself.
It is only when I was desperate enough to ask for help with my alcoholism that I could recover.0 -

MANY HAPPIES TO T2GU!!!!!!
I was on top form last night for my comeback; DD's birthday is tomorrow not today!!!! Thanks for her wishes ym & Fay will carry them over.
Your cake's nice t2gu. Have just made DD's; she wanted any sort as long as it's homemade ( triumph of hope over experience!). She has a friend here for a sleepover sounds like there's 10 of 'em up there. Weather's garbage isn't it? Bristol for the day tomorrow hopefully not so wet.
Miss P I'll go for 10 afds in Aug pls. Another triumph of hope over experience???? Haven't done that many in any of the last 6 months plus which I'm away for 8 days on hols but...nothing ventured nothing gained. We're off to Welsh Wales (well Pembroke, which is as english as you can get in Wales I suppose) & away on That Birthday (was gonna book a saga holiday :rotfl:but thougt it might look odd with a 10-year-old!)
Jo, the only way is up! For someone who's at rock bottom you sound v positive so hope that carries on.
Am already not af today due to pub lunch & no driving but my personal present to DD tomorrow is to stop all this. I've been shocked reading posts about parents /relatives dying from alcoholism at such young ages & as she's already lost her Dad guess I owe it to her. Even tho she never does as i say
Going to cover up the burnt bits (got distracted) with icing & silver balls now. My cakes are delish but always look rubbish!0 -
GC I just had an idea.....if you could just completely overlook the fact you have a wife & children for a month or so & move in with me you could keep me on the straight & narrow :rotfl:waddya reckon? There's a piece of cake in it for you0
