Albufeira in October time?

  • I was suprised at the state of the Algarve when I visited and if that was all I had seen of Portugal would never have gone back. However Lisbon is great and good value for a city. Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril much nicer than the Algarve and definately worth a visit.

    I also agree with mandragora.
    I'd choose Craotia instead!

Also with stoneman. We won't be going back, too expensive now with the £ euro exchange.

I was there a couple of mths ago.
The old town is nice but getting a refurb so not worth a visit.

Tell them to look at Croatia the most beautiful place I've ever been.
I went last Oct £500 HB for the 2 of us they will love it.

Oh dear, we're going to Albufeira for the first time, end of August. It doesn't sound so appealing now.

Get out & about - either hire a car, or go on some trips, or walk, or catch local buses... Portugal itself can be lovely, but the built up areas are what you might expect to find anywhere that's sold itself to the tourist dollar..

Try tripadvisor for some specific advice, and don't despair. In almost any area there's something niice that you'll enjoy within walking distance. WHS were doing some good deals on travel guides, too, or your local library might have something like a rough guide.

Albufeira is very built up now & spoilt with what they call "the strip"

Look out for the Ticketshop they do some really good excursions & they're the cheapest we found. Half the price than our TO.

Eastern Algarve is lovely & unspoilt. You visit,
Faro, Olhao, Tavira (really nice there) Monte Gordo, Vila Real de St. Antonio & Ayamonte in Spain.

Lagos & Sagres is another good trip.
    You visit.
Lagos, Sagres & Cape St. Vincent.

Both full day trips & well worth doing.

    Have a lovely Holiday.

i've been in the Algarve (Albafueira and Vilamoura) in October 3 times, and all three times weather has been lovely. definitely shorts and t-shirts weather during the day, and at night generally a cardigan was needed, but it was by no means cold compared to what you could get in the UK at that time of year (we got off the plane to find frost one year!).
  • the reports on here dont make it sound very good:eek:

Im wondering that too, we are looking to go to Portugal for the first time in October half term. Armacao de Pera, anyone know what its like? I thought Portugal had become an all year round place?
