Albufeira in October time?

Hello all

Has anyone been to Albufeira, Algarve in October time?

My folks have seen a deal that they would like, its leaving on the 3rd of Oct for 2 weeks. Just wondering what the resorts and weather are like at that time of year?

Would it be shorts and t shirts during the day, or a bit too cool for that? And are most of the decent bars/pubs/resteraunts still open for trade?

many thanks

Hi we went to Albufeira in late Sept early october a few years ago and the weather was very iffy we had rain most days and the weather turned chilly at night. The majority of the restaurants and attractions remained open but would shut if not so busy.I would recommend they look at Gran Canaria some very good deals around at the moment for early October

Hi we went to Albufiera on 17th September last year and we had great weather. Shorts and teeshirts by day and sometimes no jackets at night. We had 1 day of rain out of 7.:j Everywhere was still open and the beach was lovely.

was in albufeira a couple of weeks ago - never been to a worse "brits abroad" drunken mess of a resort. worse than kavos. might be better out of season. villamora a few miles up the coast is a better bet, in my view.

I was there in April - ruddy freezing and yes, on a par with Margate or Blackpool. I wouldn't go back tbh.

We went to Albuferia last year in mid October and spent 4 days sunbathing on the beach. All of the bars and restaurants in the old town were open but we were told that by the end of the month over half would be shut.
It is very dificult to judge the weather in that part as you can tell by some of the comments. It will be chill at night though. don't think i would chance 2 weeks in October.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Just go to the old town and stay away from "the strip" which is a mile or so away from the nice part anyway. Villamoura is very nice but TBH it's boring, good for one night walking around the marina. We won't be going back, too expensive now with the £ euro exchange.

We stayed in the old town, no sign of drunken Brits there. The strip is where the young ones go to. I must add the resort was very hilly even for us and we are all around 40 years old.

We were in Vilamoura two years ago from October 3rd for a week - 25-30 degrees, very quiet, beach almost to yourself, still very warm in the evenings.

It's a great time of year to go. The increase in golf courses mean the area around Vilamoura is now busy all year round so bars, restaurants don't really close down for winter.
  • Hi
We have stayed in Albuferia at the beginning of October for 2 weeks. For most of the 2 weeks the weather was ok,you can still sunbathe but if you want to go swimming then it is a bit too chilly. We had a couple of iffy days and a few days before we left there was a massive thunder storm.By the end of the 2 weeks most of the restaurants had started to close and it felt like the winter season was ready to kick in.

Try tripadvisor forums for specific advice. Fot what it's worth, the weather is a bit of a gamble, but only a bit - should be fine that early in Oct; pretty much everything will be open, no crowds as schools don't break up till later - the coastal resorts aren't to everyones tastes (we hated them) but a hire car will get you further afield and to areas that aren't over-run - the mountain villages are lovely, as is the far west coast and some of the fishing villages to the east of Faro. Mind you, we came across such nasty hostility in our resort from clearly disillusioned locals, that we won't ever be going again! We'd choose Craotia instead!
