Have just had a quick read - I agree with the comments about "steering clear of the Fashionista thread" - i was a bit put out as you are all very welcoming to everyone who pops in.

Also, I think the "what are you wearing" as a daily thread name is much more inviting.....and possibly less off-putting!

Well , personally I love " fashionista", cos it's a bit of fun.........but we are all so "normal" here ....................normal, that is, in all our many varied and wonderful guises, which we should celebrate....... but it would be a shame for us to be mis-represented as idle, mindless, clothes-obsessed bimbos!! :rotfl:Ha ha ha ! We should be so lucky!

    Hi glowgirl,

well, I love the term 'fashionista' in the fun sense we regulars understand it, but I read a post on the 'sick of being scruffy' thread the other day, recommending to the OP that she kept well away from the "fashionista" threads as they would make her feel worse

Just wondered if "what are you wearing today?" is a less daunting title....we know what we're all up to, but would hate any newbie be deterred because they think at first glance it's a thread for WAGS and ladies who lunch!

    Know what I mean dahlings!!:rotfl:

EDIT to say...although I don't suppose many WAGs do MSE!!!

That was me. Guilty as charged.

I stand by what I said (and I also think that the sub-forum is almost overwhelmed with threads of this type) - just my humble opinion.

I firmly believe that the OP on the "sick of feeling scruffy" thread would have felt a whole lot worse for reading not only the details of everyone's outfits but the minutiae of everyone's life.

    Hi Gottochange,

I did quite understand where you were coming from on the 'sick of being scruffy thread and thought your reply to leedslass was helpful and showed empathy! No criticism from me intended!!

From the point of view of the fashionista threads, just thought it was a shame if anyone who hadn't read through them, was put off by the name.
I laugh harder than anyone at the thought of calling myself a 'fashionista':rotfl:. That's not what I am AT ALL:rotfl: You should see me in my daily working life and you'd understand!! I love the name cos it's used tongue in cheek and a bit of fun.

Clothes are an area of £££spending that cause a lot of angst for people in one way or another. The threads are a lively attempt for ladies (or guys) to get themselves organised and inspired. They reflect the views of all ages, shapes and sizes and I think threads are friendly, helpful and mutually supportive and encouraging; so we can all benefit from shared views and experiences.

Do people perceive them in a different way? That would be interesting to know!

The fact that there are a number of threads and lots of posts reflect just reflect the interest. It has certainly helped me to save money, make money and start getting some order into this messy area of my life!!

    Kind regards

    Bron

Yes - is the answer. Those that do probably don't involve themselves in them.

Different strokes and different folks and all that.

I do read them - but would never presume that anyone would be interested in reading what I am wearing or going to wear or what I am doing..... but that IS just me.

Ever aware that internet forum users are not always who they seem, I was reluctant to ask the "scruffy" OP her size as it sounds like a dodgy question to me (nevertheless, she and I have exchanged PMs and I have sent her some brand new clothes, so all's well on that score) - and similarly I read one of your posts where you described what you were wearing down to the colour and fabric of your underwear.... I mean, come on.

Which post of mine was that?

I am pretty sure I have never posted that information on daily threads.

There have been valid underwear discussions re shops like Bravissimo, problems in sizing and fitting of bras etc.

Valid comment about dodgy internet users, but personally found the implication quite offensive.

I didn't mean that you were a dodgy internet user - just that there are some (and I wanted to avoid being thought of one myself by asking leedslass for her size etc.) and that they may get their thrills by reading posts such as yours dated 4 July........

I'm afraid it stuck in my mind and I had a feeling of TMI - sorry.
