I'd be really really careful about reporting this.

Anyway - I would ask around and have a look in the gardens of the surrounding properties....it might have been kids and have dumped it somewhere nearby.

    Its theft and needs reporting.
Whether they find it and bring it back is another thing.

Report it without a doubt, someone as stolen something of yours, its as simple as that. You are not wasting police time!

Just had two scaffold ladders nicked from my mates place as we were watching tv, heard the noise, by the time we got to the door they had dissapeared, so chased down the road in the car, where we found the ladders hidden in a driveway, would you believe they tried hiding them under two coats!!

Before we knocked on the door of course we called the police!

    Report it. Two reasons:

1, there's a reasonable chance that your local neighbourhood team knows who's likely to have taken it and - if you're quick - can attempt to find them in possession.

2, if you don't report crime then you won't get any resources devoted to preventing it. If your neighbours have all suffered thefts then you'll make it onto the daily briefing and get more frequent patrols for a while.

I agree with AdrianW2 for the reasons stated

Defi report it, it probably will not get officer sent out for it but the crime management team will deal with it. There may be policies with metal theft and as others have mentioned a few likely candidates for the theft.

Thanks, that's the main reason I was unsure - it may have just been a gate stolen from me, but other people nearby may have had valuable things stolen.

Not really worth reporting anything as stolen IMO as the police will never recover anything because they don't investigate crimes - just motorists it seems.
