I'm looking to start planning our first trip to Disney for April 2011. I know it's a long way away, but I want to use my husband's BA miles for the trip and for that you have to book up about a year in advance.

I visited Disney back in 1988 and we stayed in a hotel at LBV. Can anyone recommend a hotel in either LBV or one of the actual Disney hotels - I can see this holiday being a one off so don't mind paying a little bit more than the basic. If we stay at one of the Disney hotels, is it worth doing the dining deal. We will only do disney for one week as my husband isn't too keen on it (I wait for him to change his mind) so we will then spend a week on the east coast of Florida.

Recommendations for this part of the holiday would also be appreciated.

Bearing in mind the 2 centre holiday, which airport would you fly into (I believe you can also fly London-Tampa with BA).

Many thanks for any help you give me.

If your husband isnt too keen on Disney he will go crazy staying on site for a full week !

Try The Radisson Lake Beuna Vista, was ranked #1 on Tripadviser last time I looked, we had a week there this year for the first part of our Orlando trip.

Reasonably priced ( and cashback through Quidco / expedia ) and an excellent location.

Hi, I'm thinking of booking the Springhill Suites by Marriott, but im not sure it is a bit too 'out the way' as we wont have a car. Does anyone know if its near an I Ride stop or have any experience of this hotel please. Thanks

Here is a copy of the I-ride map. I would say that there would be about a 5 minute walk between each stop so should be a max of about 3 minutes fro a stop.

  • We have been looking into getting the Express passes for Universal Studios / Islands of Adventure when we go there but they are $25.99 per person

Do you have a link to this information ?

I am going without a car :D Don't feel confident enough to drive with three children on my own and no-one else to tell me where to go (I know that I could use Sat Nat)

I am staying at Disney as previous years I have stayed in a villa. Before that we didn't use a car and I still loved it.

I think I am brave enough raking the three children on holiday with me 4,6 and 12, let alone thinking about driving too.:D

  • Renting a car in Orlando shouldn't be a problem. It's very inexpensive and highly recommended.

Magic Kingdom? It's for everyone! But if you want rides, Sea World and Islands of Adventure are the way to go.

Don't forget to buy travel insurance!
