Wanted to mention something here as we've just booked a 2 week trip there for end August\beginning September.
Bought the Brits guide book (latest version for 2016) from Amazon for around a tenner, straight away saved more than the cost of the book because there is a special offer link for Alamo car rental that gives around 10% off plus it also added an additional driver.
The book is awesome anyway and well worth it but the discount was a big bonus. Note it says you actually have to have the physical book with you when picking up the car if you use the discount.0 -
That's a great spot thecornflake. I don't know if you've used Alamo before, but as there are only two of us we quite often book an economy car for airport pickup from Alamo. We've never had to drive one as they always have Compact cars (one grade up) as the ones left when we arrive, though they always try to sell up (we know their crafty little ploys).
I think the Brits Guide also has a good section on driving in FL. You may also be interested in the FL equivalent of the highway code, which can be seen here:

We have decided on a 14 day holiday solely at Disney Resort Orlando staying at the Caribbean Beach Hotel and using disney transport for the duration. We get the quick service plan included but are deciding whether to upgrade or not ?
What are peoples thoughts on this? Who has done which one or even both? What would you recommend? Pros and cons for each?
It will be an extra £940 for us. We are a family of 5. Mum, dad, 2 daughters 18 years old and son 14 years old.0 -
Personally I wouldn't. Check whether Caribbean Beach has a full service dining option. It could get to be a drag pretty quickly if you have to leave the resort all the time to get your money's worth.
There are lots of good summaries on the net. It's not for me, I think k I'd never get my money's worth, but do have a read around. Also, v important... the upgrade price excludes tips... so you may need to factor a further 20% on top of that to get your money's worth.
Here's one blog on it:

ETA... Have checked. The full service restaurant at Caribbean Beach is called Shutters. Lots of reviews and pics on Trip Advisor, so you should get a good idea of whether it's right for you or not. Table service is great for a few days, but for a long trip I want to just veg in the room some days, not feel forced to get on a bus to a park or DS to get vfm.

Hi all
We have a 10 night holiday planned in October - I have a few questions and wonder if anyone could answer
We have hired a car - I know there is a deposit payable on arrival but cant find any information on how much this is. Is this likely to be £200 or £1000 I really have no idea.
Same questions for hotels really - do we have to pay a deposit. Dont want all my holiday money tied up so need to plan in advance.
I have been looking at park tickets (we want to do Disney, Seaworld, Universal) and have found a park hopper ticket which is around £600 for 14 days but as we are going for 10 days and will want to have a few pool days I don't see the point in getting 14 day tickets - any recommendations for 7 day tickets?
Are there any other surprise costs we should be aware of?
Thanks allTotal 2019: £3972 - Best win this year £3000
2018 total £4062/2017 total £2260/ 2016 total £2025/ 2015 total £3809.0 -
Hi all,
We are only going to be in Orlando for 4 days, as we are traveling around for the rest of the holiday.
We have done the Disney parks a good few years ago, and would like to do universal..... But just for one day.
Does any body know the best way to buy a ticket... Everything I find is for 14 days... And very expensive.
Thanks0 -

you can buy single day tickets from Universal themselves -

We are looking at trying to afford to take the children to disney florida.
We have to go during school holidays as i am a teacher
Thinking end of july/beg of august.
my son is autistic , do they offer ride access passes?
I've got a quote booking direct with disney staying at a moderate resort with disney dining for 14 days for approx £4200. This is without flights but includes disney tickets.
Ideally we will get tickets to all the parks, universal etc, and stay on I-drive but it seems to be so so expensive.
any tips?
who to book with?Started comping October 2011, no wins as of yet. Would really love to win a short uk break so we can take the children awayThank you to everyone who takes the times to post competitions and good luck:j
