I'm considering moving my little trip forward a bit. Can anyone tell me how busy the parks and general area will be around the middle/end of April? Should I try for early May? I know that Easter is at the start of the month, but I don't know anything about school holidays.

Also, this is a REALLY stupid question, but might as well post it here. Although I'd love to fly direct, I'll most likely fly BA (which means flying into Gatwick first). Would my bags my transferred over automatically? I assume they would since I'd be flying BA both times, on one ticket, but best to be sure!

yes they will check them all the way through for you. End of April beginning of May is usually a great time to go we had a sneeky 8 days then last year and it was brilliant..no more than 20 min queues for most rides.

    Excellent, I thought so. Thanks!

Do Americans go in for May Day? I have no idea. Even if they do, I could always have a day off theme-parking then and do something else. How many days would you recommend for the theme parks (Disney, Universal, SeaWorld), bearing in mind it will be an adult thrill seeker? I'm hoping to meet up with a friend who lives over there, but just in case.

no...they don't do may day per se....cinco de mayo is a big party day but not a big issue in the parks

I've already got our disney tickets as doing a split stay - 9 days disney(booked direct with tix, acc and dining) and then 10 days ID in July/August this year but I am trying to work out the best place to get our tickets for Universal, Seaworld and Discovery Cove. I've found a UK site - travelrepublic - who seem to have good prices (discounted off gate price) but wondering if anyone has used them before? I havent got a very good overseas debit card so dont really want to pay in dollars and lose the benefit by loading fees etc. Any advice? Thanks

Discovery Cove admission also includes Seaworld so no need to buy separately :)

The last time I went to Florida was Xmas 2009 and I managed to pay £1400 for 2 adults and 2 children but these were not direct flights and they were booked 6 months in advance.

I've just been looking at the prices for this Xmas and the cheapest I've found is £2100 which is a massive jump.

Just wondering whether to wait and see what flights sales come up or is this about right for the price you would pay?

  • prices are high....they have increased a lot since 2009 I'm afraid

    Sadly true!

Welnik, If you're getting four flights for just over £2k you're doing well! For my dates I'm looking at 50% more

I'm guessing you're flying out earlier in December than we are able to.

Anyway - the flights have only just been released so it may be worth hanging back a bit. What are your dates?
