Hi all back again
i have spent some time on the dibb ... isnt it great ?
i am thinking about money again ... i have $950 so far but think i need to get me some more dollars ... i just dont want to get too many and land up having to spend money i cant afford ..
were going for 21 days so with $950 it works out at less than $50 a day cash (the rest i was planning on putting on my halifax clarity card) now parking for cars is between $14 and $15 a day so that leaves me less than $35 a day for food etc at the parks and at Anna Maria island( we have decided on which parks we are doing now) and also for money for tips toll roads and any coffees drinks etc we want to have ....
i plan on using the clarity card for petrol, wallmart, presents etc
i just have this worry that the money i am taking is going to be no where near enough ... but then i also dont want to take too much for safety reasons .... i'm used to taking my debit card and just using that (but now that my bank charges i wont be doing this anymore) and i think thats why i am panicking is less than $50 a day enough?0 -
The Harry Potter land is in Island of ADventure, but i am sure you caould maybe go to the tow as they are right next to each other. The parks at universal do an eat all day for $23 offer for adults and that includes all meals for the day at selected restuarants - may be a good option too as it is usually aound $10 just for main course - with this u get drink and dessert
HTH
OOOOOPS Yes, switched the parks but the point remains, the bigger rides are at the other park to Harry Potter. The parks are next to each other, yes but with 20 going not easy to keep together if you start moving park to park!0 -
thanks jeaniebeenie. I'd been to the area before, but a long time ago so good to know that its changed a bit!
Would you still recommend anna maria for a small child? 2.5yrs? Any accommodation recommendations?
chaos weddings, if you need 4 bedrooms, would a villa not be the most practical solution/cost effective for you? In October you should be able to find one at a good rate. We've been looking for Oct 2011, and prices were coming in for anything £500 per week upwards......perhaps someone with more knowledge than me could help more though....
Have you looked at Marco Island? we loved it there, or Captiva and Sanibel Island, we have stayed there too. All lovely child friendly places, with great beaches, restaurants and shops. Fabulous villas too.0 -
sorry more silly questions .... has anyone been to cirq du soleil (sp) ? if so would you recommend it ?0

Hi
Our group did Cirque a couple of years ago. It was a bit pricey, but for around 90 minutes we didn't know where to look as there were things happening all over the theatre.
Our party ranged from a 10 year old boy up to a 48 year old couple. We would recommend it to anyone.Going down the Oteley Road to see the Shrewsbury aces! :T0 -
thanks have just had a look at la nuba the orlando show and it looks amazing ... i found the tickets ranging from $71 to $124 yikes that is a bit expensive .... will need to see if i can get them any cheaper i think .... but it does look fantastic ...
i am a fan of shows like slava snowshow so this is my kinda theatre .... but at $71- $124 each it is a bit much ....0 -

Jeannie.... don't you mean that the bigger rides are at the same park as Harry Potter (ie at Islands of Adventure)0 -
Elantan ... how many people is the $50 a day for?
I must admit we probably spend less than $50 per day in ready cash, but I put 99.99% of purchases on my credit card, and don't pay to park at WDW.0 -

I was actually thinking of Rip Ride Rockit as being THE ONE biggie everyone wants now alongside new Simpsons ride. On reflection I suppose that's just because I am too familiar with older thrill rides in IOA, but when I think about it yes there are more of the big rides in IOA. I haven't seen the resurrected Duelling Dragons now Dragon Challenge either.
This is what makes it difficult to choose just one park. They improve and change all the time and people's opinion of the single best ride varies so much.0 -
Rip Ride Rocket is closed quite a lot and it is right next to the entance so this could be a 'do' at the end of the day IF it is running. Worth having theme parks entrance for 'just in case'. No, I'd not bother. While we was there it was running just once. For 30 minutes after park opening - and then it was closed for a week. I have to admit, I'd be slightly nervous of putting someone elses kids on a ride that breaks down 30 minutes after it has opened and then is closed for a few days at a time.
I'd definatey go for IoA over Studios with teens. Studios was pretty pants IMO. For the hype and money they charge. If there is time you can go into Studios and if you have a 2 park ticket I'd do RRR and Simpsons if you have time. The rest.... well, that is just time out of my holiday I'll never get back!! However, now we have done it we know we have not missed a huge amount and we will not go again. LOL. I was really disappointed with US. Can you tell? Is there any single best ride in US? Simpsons was good but I would not go back just for that. The others seem very dated and, for me, are the kind of rides I'd only do the once.
An aside note: RRR seems really out of place in US anyway, I think they must have run out of room in IoA or needed something to draw people to US. It's just stuck in the corner and does not seem to 'fit in' with the rest of the Studio's theming. I think they needed a draw to the park as everyone was going into IoA and they needed to get people into Studios. They do magic photos like Disney but they charghe $24 for them. They are SO missing a trick like with DoDisney's Photopass - we certainly were not going to pay that money. As with Seaworld - Disney PP was such great value. I think Harry Potter World would have fit into US much better and it would have evened the crowds out. Someone did not give that much thought - other than wanting to change Flight of the Hippogriff and Duelling Dragons into HP rides.
Duelling Dragons hasn't changed at all, just the name and the theming so it'll like you are used to jb.0
