I thought that virgin would of been the better choice out of the two. I will be 23 when i head over so i would rather take the gold insurance than the $250 i will have to pay if i dont

Virgin tend to give their best service to the routes from LHR, Gatwick and Manchester (MCO routes) are where all the skanky old planes with the old IFE and the p1ssed off stewards are.

KLM has always had on demand and been brand spanking new planes when ive used them to ATL from AMS. Service has always been spot on too.

But like has already been said, between all the airlines theres not much tbh, and its only a 9hr flight so its not that long to have to put up with.

  • Hi Guys

Does anyone know of any cheap young driver surcharge car hire companies please?

We have been to Orlando before and got stung with this charge! were under 25, the cheapest we've found is enterprise at $15 a day extra, US Car Hire offer a gold insurance but are £50 dearer!

Also, re: Disney which ticket is best to purchase please? We have a Universal 2 park 14 day ticket but want to experience Disney at the best possible price :j

    Thanks in advance :)

US Rentacar are quite competitive, but still probably similar to US Car Hire.

Unfortunately it's a fact of life you will have to pay something extra as an under 25 just as you would to insure your car here.

As for tickets, the websites I suggested are a good starting point, but before anyone can suggest which actual ticket you need, an idea of how many days you will want to spend in Disney parks and whether you will want to 'park hop' and visit water parks would be useful.

Havent really kept up with this thread since we went last year, so no doubt I have missed all kinds of gems.
We are going again this year and taking an elderly relative (80).
She is reasonably fit for her age so I am not anticpating any problems.
Does anyone have any advice that I should take into account before booking, etc??

Last time we went we stayed in Floridays, but would like to stay elsewhere this year.
Sleeping arrangement are difficult as it is me, my two kids and the relative so one of tha places with just two double beds would not be good. Does anyone have any suggestions?
A disney one would be nice, but I am not that keen on paying for two rooms.

    Hi Mike,

Have you thought of a villa? It might be good for you as you will all get your own space. The kids could even have their own rooms if you get a 4 bed. I looked on Portland thinking it was going to be really expensive, but the pricing was that much more than a normal hotel holiday. Worth a look for sure.
Also, if you get a car you will be able to get around alot easier.

    Hope that helps,

    sweet x

I was thinking villa too or maybe a condo.

We normaly have a villa, but when we took my parents (their first trip) they wanted somewhere we could leave them with things to do and people around because they didn't want to drive yet 'didn't want to go to many theme parks' (we never left them once- they did ALL the parks and LOVED them!).

Anyway, we chose Bahama Bay. We had a lovely large condo with 3 bedrooms and 2 en-suites.

If you are interested in any condo, do your research. Some are rented by owners privately and may not be of the same standard as those rented directly with with the main operator (some are - check feedback). If you have gone with an owner directly the management are reluctant to resolve issues when you are there.

Sorry.......Just realised Floridays is condos, so you will know:o

Where I was coming from is my parents would have been completely Disneyed out in Disney accommodation, but you will know you relative best.

When you say "we have..." what do you mean? The link is just a disney link.

We are probably going mid August.
