New Contract Required
My partner and my phones are both up for renewal. I have sent a letter to vodafone to cancel my contract. We require approx 200 mins x network and 250 texts, with either the Sony Erricson W810i or Nokia N70, anyone know of the best offers at present? Also is it worth waiting for the N80 which is due out next month when my cancellation is actively finished?

Do you not want to keep your number then? You would need to terminate your contract via a PAC if you wanted to keep your number.aslawrie wrote:I have sent a letter to vodafone to cancel my contract.
Are you after a cashback or non-cashback deal?
Do you have any network preference?
Let me know and I will see what I can find.
Cheers

I would like to keep my numbers, what is a PAC???
We have no network preferance, everyone has cross network minutes nowadays anyway
Preferably non cashback unless there is a simple one available, that even people like myself can manage to maintain.
many thanks,

Hi sorry for the lack of knowledge, i just emailed vodafone requesting my PAC code, am i likely to have to pay an admin fee for this? regards, al0

The new t mobile flext tarriffs are very good, and you get 25% off line rental for life if you buy from them direct. There are may threads about this tariff on the forum. Well worth a look. I dont believe you will have to pay an admin fee for a PAC code.0

Your PAC is your Porting Authorisation Code which allows you to transfer your number to another service provider via MNP (Mobile Number Portability.aslawrie wrote:Hi just emailed vodafone requesting my PAC code, am i likely to have to pay an admin fee for this?
There should be no charge from your current service provider and they are obilged to issue it within two working days.
The allowances on the Flext plans are very good but you are tied in for 18 months. Plus it's pretty likely you'll be getting a locked and heavily branded handset with terrible T-Mobile firmware 'enhancements'! Not that I am anti-T-Mobile or anything!richardjames73 wrote:The new t mobile flext tarriffs are very good, and you get 25% off line rental for life if you buy from them direct.

Because Orange, O2, 3 and vodafone dont heavily brand their handsets??? I dont think you can single out T-Mobile for that one.0

I am anti any branding and firmware changes. No intention to single out T-Mobile, that's the network you recommended.richardjames73 wrote:Because Orange, O2, 3 and vodafone dont heavily brand their handsets??? I dont think you can single out T-Mobile for that one.
O2 remains the only network where almost all handsets are shipped with the manufacturer's original firmware and come unbranded. I have no affiliation with O2 whatsoever but for this reason, and a few important others, O2 is the network I use and the network I recommend the most.

mark I am in line with you on branding and locking mobile phones. It losts a lot of valuable features of the phones.0

so can anyone help with a cheap deal for me then?0

You will get a better deal with a Nokia N70 simply because it is an older handset compared to the SE W810i.aslawrie wrote:so can anyone help with a cheap deal for me then?
If you connected to O2 200 you would have 200 minutes but only 100 SMS per month. However, this is doubled for the first three months and unused allowance rolls over to the next month. Alternatively, you could purchasse an additional bundle of SMS.
Standard line rental is £30 per month but a cashback deal would give you 6 months half price. This would cost £270 for the year which equates to £22.50 per month. Of course, this assumes you meet the Ts and Cs of the cashback.
A better match for your requrements would be to use an O2 Online deal, though of course this would not involve any cashback. For £30 per month you would get 200 minutes and 500 SMS on a 12 month contract. This would cost the full £360 for the year.
Hope this is of some use.
Cheers
