How can O2 get themselves out of the hole they have dug themselves into?

O2 used to be right on the ball. They were the last to abolish 084x numbers from inclusive minutes and gave good deals to retain existing customers. Now they have to be losing customers by the bucketload and I can't see them ever regaining the position they had 3 or 4 years ago. The only way back for them would be to reverse all the stupid decisions they have made, starting with the dumbest of the lot - In other words reintroduce non-geographic numbers for incusive minutes. That move would put them one step ahead of all the other mobile networks and business would come flooding back in. It would more than offset whatever extra costs that are likely to be incurred. Concentrating on the iphone will not help stop the rot.

dont you think thats a bit ...well harsh,

I was at a marketing meet 7-8 years ago,and they said they will run at break even for 3 years, i beleive thats when they rebranded themselves mm02, and they are doing bloody well good now days, back in 2006 telefonica got their hands on them, they then took over Be* which is doing good,

dont know what your basing your view on,

IF they're "doing good" it's probably much more to do with the appalling customer "service" of Vodafone and T-Mobile nowadays. Personally, I used to have up to 5 contracts at any one time with O2 ever since I got my first; now I have none. They are clearly trying to squeeze their customers - they were one of the first networks to abandon 12 month contracts (presumably their customer service wasn't good enough to retain people at the end of a 12 month one). I think the rot really began when they split (to an extent) with cpw, who now only do O2 contracts with O2 rather than their own O2 department (apart from so-called upgrades for existing cpw customers).

From what i've been told they arent doing that good and you can tell by their order book currently. However the director of sales has changed now so maybe they will go down a different route

Also they have too many people trying to make decisions especially in meetings which is why you never get anywhere. Why on earth do you need 8 people to come to a meeting from 02 with your distributor
