    Be careful buying compatible cartridges for it, they may not work:

    A report from an actual owner of one;

    " You may well find yourself lumbered, as Epson are so keen to lock you down to ONLY their cartridges, that they keep changing the chip design - so you may buy "compatible cartridges" for your printer model, only to find that they are NOT compatible at all... And, of course, Epson have also chipped their own cartridges so that they CANNOT be refilled. Which, in this 'green' day and age, is pretty unforgiveable.

    I think you should reward Epson for their greed, and for their disregard for the value of recycling... by avoiding their products. I bought an Epson printer recently, but will never do so again. When you are buying a printer check that you can get compatibles that really work - and which can be refilled. It's just a little thing, but it may even help the planet...

    Personally I'd recommend an HP as they're usually a good all rounder. Canon is a good printer too but not as much choice with regards to the all in ones.

    Think your price range might be a little low though. If it was £50, not a problem! Here's the one I would recommend. I'm not put off by the few poor reviews either. (They're usually posted by people who don't have a clue what a printer does! :D)

    I'm after an all in one too. Saw a Tesco ad in the Daily Mail this morning -
    HP Photosmart C4480 for 'half price' £37.17. I'm off to check out cartridge prices before I order. Or have any of you got a better idea/recommendation??

  • Just got an e-mail from PC World and they do it for 36.99!:money:

    Cartridges are fairly decent for that one if you buy the XL ones. (Around £28 for 351 colour and £23 for 350 black)

    580 pages in colour cart and 1000 pages in a black cart. Those are for original cartridges of course.

    So a printer for £36.99 and the cartridges cost £51 .. :eek:

    Some money saving bargain.:rolleyes:

    That's what bothers me - the cost of printers are often (always?!) cheaper to buy than the cartridges. Can anyone recommend an all in one that will take cheaper 'compatible' cartridges?
    I'm not after a top of the range printer - just a basic one that does as it says on the box.

    See post # 4.

    I buy cartridges for under £2 each delivered for my Brother All-in-One's, they work a treat.

    I have Brother DCP 115C, but I have had them a while now, I guess there are newer models available now.

    Excellent printer/scanners.;)
