How to unlock my Nokia 6300 ?? - I have a code but cant work out instruction

I got an unlocking code from Vodafone today for my Nokia 6300 ... but the instructions they have emailed make little sense to me. Can anyone point me in right direction ??

IMEI ************* Manufacturer Nokia Model 6300 There is no GID1 Code listed for this IMEI GID1 Procedure NUC *************** Procedure 1. With the Vodafone sim card inside the handset. 2. Key pw NUC 1 The p w and symbols are found by keying the key twice for the symbol, three times for p and four times for w . 3. The handset should then display Sim restriction off

Do i input the code as a text, a phone number & dial - I thought i was fairly tech savvy, but this has left me clueless .

1. To show p in the phones display - just press * three times within two seconds.

2. To show w in the phones display - just press * four times within two seconds.

3. To show + in the phones display - just press * twice within two seconds

so get p then w on the screen by doing the above , then enter the NUC code they gave you

You do it as if you were dialing a number then press send

OK ... I have on my screen PW+********** (nuc number) ... now what do i press ??

codes are normally in the format

#pw+123456789101112+1#

after the last # the message pops up

Success !!! ..... Even though the email sent to me stated i needed to keep the Vodafone sim in, it needed to put in another sim card- what hopeless instructions they were from Vodafone.
