Biccies on offer at the donor centre today were Shortie, Digestives, Marshmallows, Special K, Taxi, and Tuc. Also available were Haribo and Heroes sweets.

Would have had a field day were it not for my diet.

Managed 2 donations this month, well on my way to my target of 13.

Hi, I gave blood for the 5th time around two weeks ago and since then have felt really tired. I'm normally fine, I just wondered if anyone else had a reaction like this that lasted a few weeks? I dont feel ill. just a lot more tired than usual.
November £10 a day challenge. Im starting early- 66p so far!
  • Is that tired as in "can hardly drag myself about, limbs are like lead" or "need more sleeeeeeeeep" tired?

Perhaps you're picked up a virus?

I used to be like the former for a couple of days after donating blood but it doesn't affect me so much now. Whether it is that I'm heavier now and therefore have a larger volume of blood, I don't know (thus being able to "afford" to lose some every 4 months).
Generally my diet is better these days as well.
For the first few years of donating I smoked, then I stopped giving blood for a while. By the time I resumed blood donating I'd stopped smoking and have stayed stopped. I no longer feel tired, so I don't know what has made the diffrence as several things have changed!!!

If your donation was less than 14 days ago you need to give them a call and let them know.

you may still be able to give something, why not go along to your next session it'll be on the website when andwhere it is in your area, ask them about it, as the use blood for alsorts now not just for transfusions

If any one has received blood products since 1980, it's a strict no. It's to do with the "possible" risk of transmitting vCJD via a blood transfusion.
    (I work for NBS)
  • I was told I had a flow rate of "9" last time I went.

Don't suppose anyone knows what that signifies????

Anyone know what the situation is with iron tablets i.e. how long after you can donate.
Obviously I will consult my doctor but just wondered if anyone knew.
