I gave 4 pints of blood and then was in a motorcycle accident and received 4 pints back so I'm at parity with the system
, but I'm now not allowed to donate anymore. Seems a bit unfair because if there is anything sinister in my blood, they put it there!!
I'd also consider Bone marrow donation, though I guess if I'm ineligible for blood then I suppose I will be for this too?Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

I had recently had a couple of invitations to give blood but couldn't attend due to other activities. I saw this thread as I was browsing MSE and it reminded me to look up my next convenient session. I have booked in for an appointment at a session tomorrow, thanks to MSE! Otherwise, It would have been the next reminder that prompted me to go along to donate.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

I gave my latest donation today and I did a little checking during my visit at the blood donor centre and my source says that you are correct in your assumption.
If you think about it it does make sense, if someone is ill enough to need a bone marrow donation then the medical staff need to eliminate all possible risks of any kind from the potential donor.0 -
I gave for the 6th time last week - only got a record of 4 though. I've given in different places and not all the records have been assimilated.
It's a good feeling knowing that you're helping others and to those who are scared, I think the most painful part is pulling the plaster off.*removed by forumteam - please do not advertise in signatures*0 -

I'm a [STRIKE]wimp[/STRIKE] alergic to plasters so I just get a bandage. No pain.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I have to agree with this, I am a hairy beggar(except my head) and if I forget to shave that area of my arm, OUCH.:eek:0 -
I gave my second pint on Sunday, it takes me ages though cos my blood is slow going through or something :S The poor nurse had to stand and hold the needle at a certain angle lol
I agree the worst part is pulling off the plaster afterwards *ouch*

Last week the nurse put the plaster on and I carried on bleeding.
He quickly put another pad on which I had to hold for ages. Then he put another plaster on. Thankfully no more claret came out!
Does anyone else have really good snacks at their sessions? I had a mint club AND a milky way last week (piggy). When I gave in Camberley last year I'm sure they had packets of crisps too.*removed by forumteam - please do not advertise in signatures*0 -

This has happened to me before. It was because I'd exercised a couple of hours before donating and obviously my heart rate was still raised. Its a wierd feeling but not frightening. Maybe you had been rushing about before you went.
The place before this I gave blood at had a great selection clubs, penguin bars etc, my two children loved it. :j
Now we just get custard creams and chocolate bourbons.
The first place I gave blood it was a cup of tea or nothing. I don't drink tea so got nothing.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
