If they find anything they notify your Doctor. Otherwise you hear nothing.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Personally I think 17 is too young. You are still growing.
My son had a letter through when he turned 17 " WE WANT YOUR BLOOD " in bold letters on the envelope. I've advised him to wait until he is 21.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I used to donate regularly, but when I gave birth to my ds I needed to receive 6 units so now I am unable to donate again, which is a shame as I would love to continue.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I would really love to give blood, the only problem is I'm really squeamish and it makes me feel funny just thinking about it. I should just pull myself together and be brave :P
Turns out I can't give blood at the mo anyway because of piercings.
I would really like to do it at least once, to know that I could've helped someone. My sister had multiple blood transfusions due to prematurity so it's about time I gave something back.
Anyone got any brave blood giving advice for a few months time? (gulp!)0 -
I'm O+ but stopped donating 'cus it creeps me out too muchNothing to see here, move along.0

I agree that not enough people who could give blood bother to do so but please spare a thought for those of us who would love to but cant.
I have had a blood transfusion in the past so I can't give blood. My partner isn't allowed to because of the medication he's on.
Both of us are willing donors but we have had that decision removed from us due to regulations that we have no control over.
We're not all bad you know!0 -
isnt there a risk in giving blood?0

I used to donate but then they changed the rules and because i've had 2 transfusions in the past (1987 and 1995) they won't take it anymore. I'd be more than happy to donate. It's not as if i'm in a high risk group (both were due to pregnancy complications). It doesn't make me feel great thinking that they think i'm likely to pass something on!
I gave for ages after having the transfusions until they brought in these new rules.0 -
I would love to give blood, but they make it very hard. The donor sessions are on weekdays where I live and of course I'm at work. There are none near my work and anyway I doubt staff would be allowed out to give blood. I would basically have to use a day of annual leave to give blood and I'm not that saintly! I saw an advert saying that there are now some places that have permanent drop-in sessions, but the nearest one to me is 30 miles away.0
