  • Hi Guys,

Just signed up to say thanks to all the posters here and the wealth of knowledge with regards to this case, i drive a company vehicle and received a parking fine / penalty / ticket call it what you will via the companies fleet dept, turns out not only did i spend £200 in my local homebase last saturday but i also stayed 25 minutes longer than the permitted 60!!! before i left work i went armed with about 50 peices of printed paper taken from this and other sites on the whole G24 scam
sure enough there was atleast 9 signs around the car park along with the nasty camera and no i didnt spot any of them infact i never have done in all my trips as well as all the other passengers since they went up in Feb this year i guess when your out spending money at these places you really dont think about things like this!!

Anyway it turns out the paperwork wasnt needed, a quick word with one of the managers and he said yep no problem, pulled out a G24 book and wrote my reg down and said it would be cancelled on Monday, he then said be careful if you make two twips in a day sometimes the camera doesnt see you leaving the first time and will catch you the second time hence a longer stay period, also he said he had been done many times and he works there, great system this!!

anyway i hope this helps some of you out, i would also hope each homebase store at least has a system like this in place

Unfortunately not. On one forum I read that the manager of the Northampton Branch invited the complainant outside to settle it with fists.

On another note, if you are a genuine customer spending a lot of money, why should you have to jump through hoops to get this cancelled. Would it not be less stressful to shop elsewhere, and let Homebase no why you are going elsewhere.

I know its regardless what your spending its more the principle that counts hell i wouldve argued my case if i had spent 50p the manager didnt seem too bothered what we had spent, he actually said dont worry about it, its purely to stop misuse i guess everywhere is different
