Easyjet changing flight prices mid week?

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone can help or not (hopefully an easyjet employee - ssshhhh).

Do easyjet put their flight prices up and down on a certain day of the week? Since I looked last week on the route that I wanted some costs have gone down and others up. Obviously they must be able to do this (although I think this takes the pee).

If anyone can help I'd be grateful as I want to book some flights but at the best price I can get!!

Cheers :p

Prices change up and down all the time according to demand, but at peak popular times they are most likely to go up. They don't all get reduced in a so called 'sale'.
    It is called yield management.
First thing to consider is the likely demand for the flights that you want to go on and when. If you think demand is likely to be good then price falls may be unlikely.

Easyjet offer a "price promise" subject to certain t&ts you should be able to book anytime.
Unlike Ryanair, whose prices yo yo wildly, as a rule of thumb, Easyjets prices tend to head mostly upwards the longer its left. Hence they probably dont pay out too often on "Price Promise Guarantee http://easyjet.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/easyjet.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=19&p_created=1074009390&p_sid=*Bn6zYCj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=2576&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTQsMTQmcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1sb3dlc3QgcHJpY2U*&p_li=&p_topview=1

    Q:
The fare on my flight has gone down! Does easyJet offer a price promise?[/QUOTE]

    A:
Any easyJet passenger who has made a booking and subsequently finds that lower fares (when taken together with all applicable charges) for the same easyJet flight have become available will be refunded the difference as a credit against future flights on easyJet. The only exception to this is if the lower fares are part of a promotional offer. Please note that each Journey will be treated separately. This credit will be valid for use against bookings made within 6 months from the date of issue. It will expire at midnight on the expiry date and the validity of the credit file cannot be extended.

To qualify for a refund the fare must be still available for sale and must be for the same date, destination, and flight number.

If your price promise request is in respect of a booking that has been subject to a "flight transfer" or "name change", easyJet will not refund below the value of the original fare paid in the initial booking. All transfer fees and name change fees are non-refundable.

To make a claim the passenger must telephone our call centre on 0871 244 2366 (calls cost 10p per minute; calls from mobiles and other networks may cost more. For other telephone numbers visit the contact us section.) Claims made by fax, letter, or email cannot be accepted.

In response to Polishbigspender I appreciate Easyjet are a business and have to make a profit like everyone else does these days but I do feel that the price 'hike' they have put on these flights is a bit 'harsh' in the current econmic climate.

The school holidays haven't even started and yet the flights for Christmas are almost £200 pounds return per person to Europe!!! The price I looked at has gone up £40 in a week for a return flight. If they want people to use their service I just feel that consideration to everyone's needs should be considered. This particular destination has limited flights in and out of it this year therefore they are beginning to have a mini monopoly over this destination and so obviously feel they can charge what they like because the demand will definately be there.

Thanks to everyone for their responses... I will keep watching! ;)

Sorry, thats not the way it works. The flights are priced at the MAXIMUM they think they will get. If they are selling like "hot cakes" they will put them up more. If they aren't, they will drop them.
Your or my affordability, isnt a consideration if others can afford them.

Do the RITZ offer cheap rooms for poor people ? of course not!

The advantage with easyjet, is at least whatever the price, if it drops, at least you can maybe get a credit

Well just incase anyone is interested as it may help others who are looking to book flights with easy jet. I have just looked at said easyjet flights today and guess what... they have put the same flight down £40 from yesterday.....

Hence my first comment I think they take the pee a little bit! ;)
  • Does anyone know if prices tend to be automatically reviewed/amended at midnight like ryanair seems to (especially in the few days before departure)?

I think so, but not when the fare is put on sale, which is one reason they have so many sales.

Re the Easyjet 'price promise' the key is the passage 'The only exception to this is if the lower fares are part of a promotional offer.' If it does drop prices for certain dates due to lower than expected demand you will usually find the word sale or promotion over the low price. This lets them get round the 'price promise'.
