Abel Gratis - How to lose dialup customers

I've been using Abel Gratis dialup for 10 years or so now.
But a few people have been complaining to me recently that they couldn't send emails. They're using independent smtp accounts.
I'm just after checking and Abel Gratis are now demanding £20 a year for the right to send independent SMTP mail through their dialup.
Simplified, Abel has blocked access to any SMTP server except their own, unless you pay them £20 a year.
So I tried Tiscali dialup and it works fine. So now I have to go and change about 10 people's dialup details.
Thought it's be useful info for some people.
Anybody recommend other ISPS, where SMTP is free and they don't check what number you're dialling from.
