Given you were made redundant in Jan, your P45 should cover all income/taxes paid by your old company to date of termination. As such the data contained on it should be sufficient and no P60 for the tax year 08/09 would be required.
You will need to chase them up for a P11D however to cover any taxable benefit in kind (ie medical insurance ) to place on your tax return
Hope this helps

Your old employer should still send you a P60 even if you're no longer working there."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

No so I'm afraid. If you are not working for the employer as of the 5th of April they will not usually issue you with the p60 - you may move jobs several times in a tax year and would receive a number of p60s if that were true. Instead the P45 is used.
The P60 is usually only be issued by the employer who you are employed by as of the 5th April. P45's should be given by other employers you have worked for during the tax year but have left prior to the 5th April. If you are not working at this point then the data on you latest P45 should do the trick.Go round the green binbags. Oh, it's just that my son worked at my company for three weeks last summer and they sent him a P60 in April this year."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Fair enough
Many companys (Mine included) would not do this however. It's not required by law and could be confusing.

Problem is i dont have the P45, i went to sign on and they took it and then refused my claim, the P45 they printed me out is blank and devoid of all figures...totally useless!0

The P45 you had was for the 2008-09 tax year. As we are now in 2009-10, presumably the P45 will be zeros if you have not worked since 6 April (and also not received JSA?).
You will have to use your payslips then. Do you have those? Failing that, you would need to work backwards from the net payments you received.0 -
I have the payslips somewhere but i dont fancy getting it wrong, the tax man is less than forgiving!
So i can thank the government for being redundant, then for refusing my JSA claim and now for screwing me over by not providing a P60, or even a coherant P45!!! Yay! :mad:0 -

Don't see how using your payslips would be more likely for you to get it wrong than using the P60 - unless you can't add up.
So you didn't get JSA because you didn't qualify. You weren't due to receive a P60 if you weren't employed on 5 April. The P45 (if issued since 6 April 2009) was coherant if it showed that you had no earnings and had paid no tax on those non-existent earnings if that reflects the true situation.0
