Hi...
I've just ordered the LG 50 PS3000 from Electro Centre Limited, T/A - Digital Point.
I'm posting the details just in case other forum members are after the same set, it's the best deal I could find online.
For a total cost of £771.99 I'll get;
An LG 50PS3000 50" Full HD plasma TV bundle (£698),
A FREE glass stand (Inc),
An HDMI lead (Inc),
Delivery (Inc),
A 5 year warranty (£73.99*).
* I phoned them and asked if they would price match the Barmey.co.uk 5 year warranty price of £73.99 - they agreed.
TV link - http://www.digital-point.co.uk/model.php?ID=4291&referrer=pricerunner .
Warranty link (for price match) - http://www.barmey.co.uk/ssl/aspcart/productview.asp?product_id=102531 .
I did some research into the supplier and they have good feed back - http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/ri/29595/Electro-Centre .
I was quoted a delivery time of approx. 2-3 working days. They said I would receive a call 24 hours before delivery so I can be indoors to sign for everything.
So, fingers crossed, in a few days time I'll be having my mind blown away by HD.
Now I must get onto Sky and try and wangle some discount for an HD box.
I'll let you know how I get on with the TV, the supplier, and Sky.
Regards,
Mark.

UPDATE...
The supplier phoned me in the afternoon on the same day that I placed my order, and arranged (free) delivery for the next day.
TV was delivered, not by courier, but by employees of the company... on delivery they un-boxed the telly to make sure that there was no obvious physical damage.
I offered a small gratuity, and they agreed to take my old (broken) TV away.
I set the telly up and at first glance all seems to be working well.
Just to let you know about my customer service experience - I was impressed with there sales staff when I phoned and made inquiries, the two sales and support staff I spoke with were helpful & knowledgeable... when I asked for a price match on the warranty, they asked for price comparison details etc, and then did there own checks online, and, without quibbling, gladly offered me a price match.
Sky - got an HD box supplied and fitted for £29 - RESULT.
TV - Amazing picture and sound quality, which, when Sky get around to installing my HD box next Thurs, is sure to get even better.
To sum up, a really good TV at an unbeatable price from an unusually friendly customer focussed supplier with the personal touch - highly recommended.

Well it's £705 on Amazon if you wait a few days or £745 if you want it now.
Sale of Goods Act would offer the same protection (in fact probably better) than a warranty.
So your "free" stand and lead have cost between £30- £67
The Barmey Warranty, if you read the details is actually only for four years. They tell you to rely on the manufacturer for year one. Why they advertise a four year warranty as a five year one is something I don't understand0 -

Well, each to there own.
I reckon £771 for the telly, glass stand, 5 year warranty, HDMi lead, and delivery is a good price... I'd be interested how much you could find all this for (like for like), including delivery etc, from different suppliers ?
As for the sales of goods act, my understanding is that the recent EU directive over-writes this, and now, instead of 5 years protection under old UK law, it's down to 15 months under the new EU law.
Re Sky HD : " I wouldn't hold out too much hope. Demand is such that they don't need to offer any incentives. "
As I said in an earlier post, I got (as an existing Sky customer) the HD box and installation for £29 inc. A saving of £50.

Fortunately you have been misinformed.
It is 2 years under EU law but the 1971 Sale Of Goods Act is statutory UK law and gives you protection for 6 years.
The consumer exercises his/her rights with the retailer. This makes a 4/5 year warranty a waste of money as consumers have better statutory protection.
